MillerCoors Scholars/21st Century Leaders
Summer Interns Attend
Public Policy Seminar
|
The USHLI's MillerCoors Scholars/21st Century Leaders attended the first in a series of public policy seminars, which are an integral part of their internship program.
The MillerCoors Scholars/21st Century Leaders met at The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) office to discuss local public policy with Alderman Ricardo Munoz of the 22nd Ward, as well as with USHLI alumnus and CMAP's Outreach and Community Engagement Associate Ricardo Lopez to discuss CMAP's current projects and the field of urban planning.

The series of public policy seminars is one of two components that comprise this internship program. The other component entails participating in nonpartisan civic engagement activities. The goal for this group is to register 5,000 new voters, mostly newly naturalized citizens. Since 2006 participants in this internship program have accounted for over 130,000 newly registered voters, mostly naturalized citizens.
USHLI is very grateful to MillerCoors for its continued sponsorship on this internship program. The 2014 class will be honored at USHLI's Annual Dinner on
August 14 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
