Over 3,200 Students, Parents, Educators, and Recruiters Attend Launch of

2014 Student Leadership Series

A record-number of participants attended the official launch of USHLI's 2014 Student Leadership Series in Chicago on February 13th. The launch had everything - students representing 57 high schools from as far away as Portland, OR; a Career and College Recruitment Fair; recruiters representing 84 educational institutions and the military; entertainment provided by middle school and high school students; a sack lunch; and a movie actress as the featured speaker.

Our featured speaker was film actress April Lee Hernandez Castillo who most recently appeared in Freedom Writers, together with Hilary Swank.  April's electrifying presentation was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience, who responded with a standing ovation.

The Student Leadership Series is USHLI's flagship youth program.  Our goal in 2014 is to motivate 200,000 students to stay in school, improve their academic performance, graduate, pursue some level of post-secondary education, training, or meaningful employment, and equip them with the leadership and money management skills they will need to succeed in life and career.

With our innovative, energetic, interactive, uplifting and empowering methodology, our critically acclaimed SLS presentations focus on Stay-in-School Rallies for middle school and junior high students, Career & College Recruitment Fairs for high school students, Regional Leadership Summits for college students, Parent Leadership Training and Professional Development events.

Persons interested in hosting SLS events in 2014 should contact Dr. Juan Andrade at docandrade@ushli.org
