Over 1,800 Students and Educators Attend Student Leadership Series Events in East Chicago, IN

USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS) continued its fall campaign with a successful series of events in East Chicago, IN, in partnership with the School City of East Chicago. Student assemblies were held at Central High School and West Side and Block Middle Schools. A total of 1,875 students and educators were impacted through these events.
USHLI is very grateful to the East Chicago Board of Education and its president Jesse Gomez, Interim Superintendent Mary Dywan, Central High School Principal Lydia Jagger, West Side Middle School Principal Veronica Williams, and Block Middle School Principal Tony R. Mitchell for their leadership in planning and organizing this series of events.
 Our nationally prominent motivational speaker for this series of events was Roy Juarez, Jr., whose "Homeless by Choice" tour has reached hundreds of thousands of students and educators from coast-to-coast. Transportation was provided courtesy of Southwest Airlines.
SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce. Over 110,900 students, parents, and teachers in 24 states have been served this year.
