McDonald's, CoolSpeak, and USHLI Partnership Continues in Atlanta, GA

The McDonald's series of Student Leadership Summits, in partnership with USHLI and CoolSpeak, continued into Atlanta, GA.  The event, held at Central Gwinnett High School, was attended by over 1,900 students, teachers and counselors, featured a nationally prominent motivational speaker, a breakout presentation on scholarships and "how to" finance your post-secondary education, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair.  The Career and College Recruitment Fair featured a Study Lounge sponsored by McDonald's, and included 24 recruiters representing post-secondary institutions in the vicinity.

Our nationally prominent motivational speaker from CoolSpeak was Carlos Ojeda, Jr.  Ernesto Mejia conducted the workshop on scholarships.

At the McDonald's Study Lounge students learned more about regional and national RMHC HACER Scholarships, received information about post-secondary education, and took free snapshots.  A local McDonald's owner/operator also provided a complimentary apple slices and orange juice snack during the Career and College Recruitment Fair.  USHLI is very grateful to Central Gwinnett Principal Maryanne Grimes and her entire team for their support and invaluable assistance in planning and hosting the event.  USHLI is especially grateful to Jorge Quintana, Director of Media Relations at Gwinnett County Public Schools, and Jorge Gomez, Executive Director of Administration and Policy at Gwinnett County Public Schools, for their leadership and facilitating USHLI's access to district and high school personnel, and to everyone else who contributed to the success of this event.

SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce. Over 16,000 students, parents, and teachers are expected to be served through this new series of Student Leadership Summits.
