USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS) continued its record-setting campaign pace with a very successful event at Eastlake High School in El Paso, TX.  Our featured Presenting Sponsor was the United States ArmyThe event included two student assemblies, breakout sessions on how to finance your post-secondary education or training, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair.  Recruiters representing 70 post-secondary institutions in the vicinity, including vocational training centers, technical schools, community colleges, 4-year academic institutions, and branches of the military participated in the Career and College Recruitment Fair.  A total of 1,393 students were impacted through this event.

USHLI is very grateful to Eastlake principal Gilbert Martinez for his leadership, as well as his entire team for their generous support.  Also attending the event were members of the school board and leaders of the El Paso Federation of Teachers.

Our nationally prominent motivational speaker was April Hernandez-Castillo, best known for her leading role in the movie "Freedom Writers".  USHLI Field Coordinator Adrian Calderon conducted the workshops on how to finance your post-secondary education or training.  Speaking on behalf of the United States Army was 2LT Guillermo Montoya.

SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce and achieve success in life.  Over 96,906 students, parents, and teachers in 22 states and Washington, DC have been served this year.
