550 Students and Teachers Attend Student Leadership Series Event in Costa Mesa

USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS) continued its record-setting campaign pace with a very successful event at Estancia High School in Costa Mesa, CA. The featured Presenting Sponsor for this event was the United States Army. The event included a student assembly, a breakout session on how to finance your post-secondary education or training, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair.  Recruiters representing 17 post-secondary institutions in the vicinity, including vocational training centers, technical schools, community colleges, 4-year academic institutions, and branches of the military participated.  A total of 550 students were impacted through this event.

USHLI is very grateful to Assistant Principal Daniel Nafarrate for his generous support.  USHLI is especially grateful to Dr. Al Mijares, Superintendent of the Orange County Office of Education for his leadership and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jeff Hittenberger, OCOE Chief Academic Officer, for facilitating USHLI's access to district and high school personnel in planning the event.

Our nationally prominent motivational speaker was Carlos Ojeda, Jr.  USHLI Field Coordinator Adrian Calderon conducted two workshops on how to finance your post-secondary education or training.  Speaking on behalf of the U.S. Army was SFC Jose Acua.

SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce.  Over 92,776 students, parents, and teachers in 22 states and Washington, DC have been served this year.
