McDonald's and USHLI Partnership Continues in Brownwood, TX
|
McDonald's and USHLI recently entered into a new partnership to launch a series of Student Leadership Summits to be held in 10 urban, suburban, and rural markets in nine states and Washington, DC. The series, launched in San Antonio, continued in Brownwood. The event, attended by over 900 students, teachers and counselors, featured two nationally prominent motivational speakers, a breakout session on scholarships and "how to" finance your postsecondary education, and a Career and College Recruitment Fair. USHLI is very grateful to the 23 school districts that participated in the event, the largest in Central West Texas.
The Career and College Recruitment Fair featured a Study Lounge sponsored by McDonald's, where students could receive useful information on scholarships and preparing for college. A local McDonald's owner/operator also provided a complimentary meal consisting of a sausage McMuffin and a sausage McGriddle breakfast. And, 54 students received over $80,000 in scholarships awarded by Ranger College, Howard Payne University, TSTC, and USHLI. USHLI is very grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

Our nationally prominent motivational speakers from CoolSpeak included Ernesto Mejia and Lina Traslavinia.

SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce. An estimated 15,000 students, parents, and teachers are expected to be served through this new series of Student Leadership Summits.
