Over 9,000 Students and Teachers Attend Student Leadership Events in Springdale, AR
|
USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS) continued its fall campaign with a successful series of events in Springdale, in partnership with One Community and Springdale Public Schools. Student assemblies were held at three high schools including Springdale, Har-Ber, and Archer Learning Center, in three junior high schools including Southwest, Lakeside, and George, as well as in four middle schools including Sonora, Hellstern, Helen Tyson, and J.O. Kelly. A total number of 9,253 students were impacted through these events. USHLI is very grateful to Dr. Mary Bridgforth, ESL Coordinator of Springdale Public Schools, for her leadership and support, and to Dr. Diana Gonzales Worthen and Al "Papa Rap" Lopez, members of One Community, as well as all of the school principals who helped organize these events.

Our nationally prominent motivational speakers featured in the 2-day tour included Shayla Rivera and Joey Negron.

SLS participating schools will see their students become better motivated, more involved in class and extracurricular activities, more determined to succeed academically and in life, and better prepared to enter the workforce. Over 60,559 students, parents, and teachers in 19 states have been served this year.
Persons interested in hosting an SLS event in 2013 should contact Dr. Juan Andrade at docadnrade@ushli.org or Martha Villegas at mvillegas@ushli.org.
