USHLI has awarded over $1.2 million in scholarships and internships to Latino college students, more than most national non-profit organizations that do not exist primarily for the purpose of awarding scholarships.

Forty students will receive USHLI scholarships or internships in 2013, which are awarded on a highly competitive basis. Not only must applicants demonstrate strong leadership potential, the need for financial support must be equally strong. Also, additional consideration is given to students who are the first in their family to graduate high school or the first to pursue post-secondary education or training.
Our first two recipients of the Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders in 2013 are Charito Rangel and Edgar Pineda. Charito plans to attend Creighton University next fall and major in Biology. Edgar is a junior attending National Louis University and majoring in Business Administration.
