Marielena Hincapié,
Hilda Solis and Sol Trujillo

to Address USHLI National Conference

The United States Hispanic Leadership Institute today announced the three speakers who will be featured on Saturday, February 16, 2013, during its 31st National Conference in Chicago.

Addressing the Latino Policy Breakfast will be Marielena Hincapié, Executive Director of the National Immigration Law Center based in Los Angeles, CA.  The organization is dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of low-income immigrants in the U.S.

The Hon. Hilda  L. Solis was first elected to public office in 1985 as a member of the Rio Hondo Community College Board of Trustees.  She served in the California State Assembly from 1992 to 1994, and in 1994 made history by becoming the first Latina elected to the California State Senate.  Hilda was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2000 and appointed Secretary of Labor in 2009 by President Barack Obama.

Sol Trujillo, the only American to lead a major telecommunications company on three continents, is not one to rest on his laurels as a top corporate executive.  He uses his uncommon access to decision-makers in Corporate America, electronic and print media, the entertainment industry, and to policy-makers in the public sector to help them understand and appreciate what Hispanics bring to the table and ensure that our community gets the respect it rightfully deserves.

In announcing the Saturday line-up of speakers, USHLI President Dr. Juan Andrade said, "These three speakers are high-impact professionals in three of the most powerful sectors in American society - non-profit, government, and corporate, and represent the strength of the Latino community within their respective spheres of influence.  They are outstanding role models for today's leaders and for those yet to come."
