USHLI to Honor Sol Trujillo

at 31st National Conference in Chicago

Sol Trujillo, the only American to lead three major telecommunications companies on three continents will be honored at the 31st National Conference of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute, which will be held in Chicago, IL on February 14-17, 2013

Sol Trujillo
will receive USHLI's National Hispanic Hero Award.  In making the announcement, USHLI President Dr Juan Andrade said "Sol is an extraordinary American who commands considerable respect and influence for his service to the nation and who is fiercely proud of his Hispanic roots, and it is our privilege to present to him our most prestigious award."  The award will be presented at 7:30pm, Saturday, February 16, during the National Hispanic Hero Award Dinner, where the honoree will also be our keynote speaker.

Not one to rest on his laurels as a top corporate executive, Mr. Trujillo uses his uncommon access to decision-makers in Corporate America, electronic and print media, the entertainment industry, and to policy-makers in the public sector to help them understand the social, economic, and political implications of Hispanic population growth.  He generously uses his considerable influence to advocate for corporate responsibility, diversity and Hispanic inclusion, and equal opportunity.  Mr. Trujillo is passionate about shaping a more accurate perception of Hispanics in America and throughout the Western Hemisphere and securing a better future for the Hispanic community.  Currently he Co-Chairs the Hispanic Donor Collaborative (HDC) with Henry Cisneros.  The HDC is a group of major influential Hispanics who are committed to stopping the negative portrayal of Hispanics in media and advertising, bashing in political campaigns, and stereotyping in the entertainment industry, and committed to promoting a more positive image that fosters greater appreciation for what Hispanics bring to the table and ensures the respect our community rightfully deserves.

Over 6,000 present and future leaders representing 40 states are expected to attend our 31st National Conference.  As in years past, over 60% of conference participants will be 18-34 years of age and female, and over 80% will be college graduates or currently attending college.  For more information about our national conference, or to register to attend, please click here.
