Thanksgiving Day is an American tradition that is symbolized by families coming together, enjoying an incredibly delicious meal, and taking in a football game or some other form of entertainment that people can enjoy together; all in the spirit of grateful hearts filled with thanksgiving for their blessings. In that sense, we at USHLI can say that 2012 has been a year-long Thanksgiving.
Through 51 events USHLI has been received and treated like family by over 57,000 students, parents, and educators who have welcomed us into their communities in 23 states to share the gospel of empowerment through education. We have been blessed with talented individuals who have helped us develop Project CED (Citizens for an Educated Democracy), a state-of-the-art civic education virtual classroom through which hundreds of thousands of persons of voting age can learn more about the electoral process and eligible citizens can register to vote. We have published our first interactive Almanac of Latino Politics (7th edition) online. Thousands of new voters, mostly newly naturalized citizens, registered and voted for the first time. And, as we gathered to celebrate our 30th national conference, the largest Latino leadership conference in the nation, Univision Communications named USHLI as the 2012 National Organization of the Year.
Though the delicious meals have been few and far between, and 12 months of sporting events have ranged from the Super Bowl, the NBA, MLB, and college football, truly this has been a Thanksgiving Year for USHLI. And as the year begins to draw to a close, we are especially and forever grateful to our Family of Sponsors and Partners that have made this year possible. Please take a moment to look over our Family of Logos - a remarkable family that is really making a positive difference in the lives of children, the betterment of our community, and the future of this nation.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, Staff, and Volunteers, we wish you all a very
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
