When I wrote my article, we were in the midst of Passover, the holiday where we celebrate our freedom from the house of bondage to the house of freedom, from the narrow restricted land of Egypt to the wide open land of Israel. As a parent, this holiday has become more meaningful to me.   • Book Group- Our next Book Group discussion, Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots,  will be Tuesday evening, April 29 at 7:30 PM. Read more here.

  • Connections Team- Congregants and their friends have been gathering at Pinstripes on Thursday afternoons for lunch and games. Read more here.

  • Spotlight on Our Library- The eighth grade students spent a few weeks in the library to research the Holocaust's repercussions. Read more here.

  • Landscaping at the Synagogue- Spring has finally arrived in the synagogue gardens. Some spring garden cleaning will be happening on Sunday mornings but the big Spring Garden Cleanup is on Sunday, May 4 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 PM. Read more here.
  • DuPage United Launches Collaborative- At the DuPage United Delegate Assembly on March 20, the focus was the future of manufacturing jobs in DuPage County. An estimated 9000 vacancies in manufacturing will occur in DuPage County within the next 10 years due to retirements. Read more here
SCHOOL & YOUTH ACTIVITIES
  • Shabbat Chaverim- Our next Shabbat Chaverim will THIS Friday morning, April 25 at 10:00 AM. This program is for young children and a parent/guardian. Each session we do a craft, have play time, music with Cindy Michelassi and, of course a snack. We recite the Shabbat blessings and then have challah and juice.
  • Bagel Fest is again coming to Etz Chaim. On THIS Sunday, April 27 after school at 1:15 PM in the social hall. The school committee will sponsor this fun program. Bagels will be a part of all the activities including lunch, games, trivia, art project and history. Passover is over...come back to bread at Bagelfest!
CONGREGATIONAL LIFE
  • Service of Remembrance and Holocaust Guestship Lecture/Program- Susan Stein will perform her on-women play Etty at Elmhurst College, Sunday, April 27 at 7:30 PM in the Frick Center Founders Lounge. Read more here.
