  • High Holiday Food Drive- On Rosh Hashanah morning the High School students will hand out grocery bags and ask that you fill them up with non-perishable items and bring them back Yom Kippur morning. The food drive will be benefiting Christ the King Food Pantry.
  • Sukkot- Congregation Etz Chaim will celebrate the beginning of Sukkot with a joyous service, Wednesday evening, September 18 at 7:00 PM. Each child should bring a gaily decorated basket of fruitRead more here. Now is the time to place your order for your own Lulav and Etrog. The cost is $55. Please contact the office to place your order. The deadline for ordering is     September 4.
  • Shabbat Greeter Program- The Shabbat Greeter Program is seeking some new members to assist with this very valuable program. There are no special requirements needed to participate and you can sign up to help as often as your schedule allows. Read more here.
Adult & Family Activities
  • Learn with Rabbi Bob- Rabbi Bob invites you to join his study group  "Jonah and the Meaning of our Lives." The study group will begin Friday September 20 at 12:00 PM. The Book of Jonah raises key questions about the purpose of our lives, including: Who am I? Why are we here? What is evil? Read more here
  • Torah Study- The regular session of Torah Study will resume on Saturday, September 21. We meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM. We study the text of the Bible in sequence. Read more here.
  • Fundamentals of Contract Bridge- This is a new series of beginner classes, no experience is required. Read more here
  • One Book/One Community Program returns to the Western suburbs on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 PM. Jami Attenberg will discuss her novel, The Middlesteins.
  • DuPage Connect Pilot Project- At the August 13 DuPage County Board meeting a proposal was made that the county board be the first to help fund a DuPage Connect Pilot Project. Read more here

  • Religious School- Please note Friday, August 31 is the last day to take advantage of the lower Religious School fees. Prices will increase as of September 1.
  • Snoozin' in the Sukkah- Join us for a fun filled evening as we fulfill the mitzvah to dwell in the sukkah Saturday, September 21 at 6:00 PM. Read more here.
  • A Special Program For The New School Year- Sunday morning's this year, we will have a different character from American Jewish history come out of our time machine and visit our assembly at Etz Chaim and our Prayer Experience at Westlake.  If you would be interested in being one of these characters, please contact Anne Stein.

 

Congregational Life
  • First Day of Religious School Barbeque- Don't forget to join us September 15 for a bar-b-que at 11:45 AM, after the first day of school. We will provide great food and great entertainment. Bring the entire family. The event is sponsored by those great chefs from the Brotherhood.
  • Library News- A shared goal of the Library and Lifelong Learning Committees is to enhance learning among all of our members. Starting with this EBulletin, and going forward in the second bulletin of each month, you will see a new SPOTLIGHT on our LIBRARY. Read more here.
  • Save the Date- On Saturday evening, October 19 at 7:30 PM, Congregation Etz Chaim will have a Barbara Baruch memorial concert to benefit PADS. Details coming soon.
