  • Faces of Judaism Illuminated- On Monday, April  22nd at 7:30 PM the Lifelong Learning Committee concludes its four part series, The Faces of Judaism Illuminated. Rabbi Eitan Weiner-Kaplow of Shir Hadash in Northbrook will shed light on the origins of Reconstructionism. Read more here
  • PADS Adopt-An-Apartment- The Social Action Committee has just embarked on its 6th Transitional Housing Adopt-an-Apartment with Dupage PADS. This program serves as a pathway from being homeless to moving toward obtaining permanent housing. Read more here.
  • New Program: The Tree House Artist Workshop invites artists from the Etz Chaim community to create original works of art. Read more here.
  • Are You or Anyone Close to You in Need of Job Training to Obtain Employment?- Manufacturing has changed greatly. Those jobs are not boring assembly positions, but entry level engineering positions, possibly a pathway to a 4 year BS degree in mechanical engineering. 6,300 existing manufacturing employees in DuPage County will need to be replaced by 2021 as a result of the "graying" of the current workforce. Find out more at the Workforce Presentation Sunday, May 12th at 10:00 -11:30 AM

School & Youth Activities
Message from Our Educator 
The school committee has been very busy this year. Aside from our normal tasks we have spent the year working on a project to get our school accredited with the National Association of Temple Educators. Read more here.

  • Shabbat Chaverim- Our next Shabbat Chaverim is Friday morning, April 19th at 10:00 AM. This program is for young children and a parent/guardian. Each session we do a craft, have play time, music with Cindy Michelassi and, of course a snack. We recite the Shabbat blessings and then have challah and juice.
Congregational Life

  • Congregational Retreat- Passover is past. Spring break is over. Do you need a vacation?? Come join us at our Congregational Retreat at OSRUI. To learn more about retreat and to download registration form, click here.
  • April 28th Garden Clean Up during Religious School- The daffodils are blooming and soon the weeds will be growing in our gardens. On Sunday April 28th, the 10th graders will be helping us with spring clean up but we also need many volunteers to direct and assist.  Please plan to help for an hour or two or volunteer to help through out the growing season. We train on the job so you don't need to be a master gardener only have an interest to learn.  We also have tools and gloves.
