  • Faces of Judaism Illuminated- On Monday, April  22nd at 7:30 PM the Lifelong Learning Committee concludes its four part series, The Faces of Judaism Illuminated. Rabbi Eitan Weiner-Kaplow of Shir Hadash in Northbrook will shed light on the origins of Reconstructionism. Read more here.
  • New Program: The Tree House Artist Workshop invites artists from the Etz Chaim community to create original works of art. Read more here.

Training & resources for on-the-job training are available. Find out more at the Workforce Presentation on Sunday, May 12th at 10:00 AM at the synagogue's lower level. School & Youth Activities
  • OSRUI Scholarships- The Deadline is Monday, April 1st.  An application is required for all campers wishing to receive the OSRUI scholarships from the Robert Scott Samuels Fund. Scholarships are awarded for: 

    Chalutzim- $400.00 
    Regular Sessions- $300.00 
    Atid- $100.00                                                                      Additional scholarships based on need are available from the Jeremy Bruder Scholarship Fund. Please speak to one of the Rabbis or Anne to apply. Application form here
  • Shabbat Chaverim- Our next Shabbat Chaverim will be Friday morning, April 5th at 10:00 AM. This program is for young children and a parent/guardian. Each session we do a craft, have play time, music with Cindy Michelassi and, of course a snack. We recite the Shabbat blessings and then have challah and juice.
  • Bagel Fest is again coming to Etz Chaim. On April 7th after school, the school committee will sponsor this fun program. Bagels will be a part of all the activities including lunch, games, trivia, art project and history. We will be done with Pesach and back in bagel mode.
Congregational Life
  • Service of Remberance and Holocaust              Guestship Lecture- Deborah E. Lipstadt will speak on The Eichman Trail at Elmhurst College April 7th at 7:00 PM in the Frick Center Founders Lounge. Read more here.
  • Congregational Retreat- Registration for Etz Chaim's annual retreat April 26-28, has begun. This year's theme is Jewish Holidays. To learn more about retreat and to download registration form, click here.
  • April 28th Garden Clean Up during Religious School. Spring flowers are late this year but the crocuses next to the synagogue entrance only need a sunny day to bloom. On April 28th, the 10th graders will be helping us but we also need many volunteers to clear out all of last year's growth. Please plan to help for an hour or two or volunteer to help throughout the growing season. For more info contact Co-Chairs: Joy Lynn, Mary Hason or Jeanette Zeldin.
