When I arrived in Israel for my first year as a rabbinical student, plastered all over Jerusalem were signs and bumper stickers with the message, "Yesh yoter mi derech echad l'hiyot Yehudi"- "There is more than one way to be Jewish." Read more here.

  • Shabbat Service Honoring Debbie Friedman- Please join us on Friday, November 2nd at 8:15 PM for a very special Shabbat Service honoring the musical legacy of singer and composer Debbie Friedman. This musical service, directed and led by Cindy Michelassi and the talents of Rabbi Andie Cosnowsky, Mark Heisler, Jo Anne Lawrentz, Sue Leftwich, Bruce Miller, Terry Shapiro, Barbara Tischler, Barbara Turner, Uli Widmaier, and Rachel Baruch Yackley, this musical service will include songs and prayers spanning Debbie's 37 years as a recording artist and Jewish music visionary. From camp to cantorial, her music has had a profound impact on the Jewish experience. Come and share in that experience.
  • Interfaith Thanksgiving Service- The DuPage Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be held on Monday, November 19th at 7:30 PM in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Procopius Abbey at the corner of Maple and College in Lisle. Read more here

    • The Faces of Judaism Illuminated will discuss the different facets of Judaism. The first class is THIS Monday, October 29th at 7:30 PM with Rabbi Cosnowsky. Read more here.
    • In collaboration with Spertus our Lifelong Learning and Library Committees present One Book/One Community author talk on Sunday, December 2nd 2:30-4:00 PM at Etz Chaim. Read more here.
    • Demystifying the Estate Planning Process- Congregant Larry Herman will give a free presentation on estate planning on Sunday, November 11th at 2:30 PM. Read more here.
    • The Jewish Way of Mourning- On Saturday, November 17th at 9:30 AM Rabbi Bob will lead a program on the rituals and details of the loss of a loved one. Read more here.
  • Sisterhood Events-

    • Teen Parent Support Group- The Social Action Committee is looking for people interested in delivering a meal that has already been prepared, for a teen parent support group. Read more here.

    • Tree of Life Network- Next meeting is Sunday, November 18th. Read more here.
    • The Connections Team- initiates support group for caregivers. The support group meetings will be held once a month. Read more here.
School & Youth Activities
  • Tot Shabbat Plus- The first Tot Shabbat Plus of the year is THIS Saturday morning, October 27th at 9:30 AM. We have a very short service, followed by a story and song. Then there is a craft project for the children to do with help from parents, followed by Kiddush with challah, juice and snack.
  • Shabbat Chaverim- Our next Shabbat Chaverim will be Friday morning, November 9th at 10:00 AM. This program is for young children and a parent/guardian. Read more here.
  • Enroll Your Child in SKIP Now- The SEND-A-KID-TO-ISRAEL PARTNERSHIP (SKIP) program is a special savings plan that helps Chicago-area youngsters 3rd -9th grade visit Israel as an integral part of their Jewish education. Enrollment packets were mailed out the middle of October. Please contact Rachel Wood if you have not received your packet. Read more here.
