Thanks to everyone who participated in NESUG 2012!

Hi! First, we want to thank-you, the attendees for attending the 25th anniversary NESUG Conference!

This year's NESUG was perhaps our best yet. With over 500 attendees from 26 states, we had a great opportunity to network and meet other SAS professionals. There were 111 attendees who took advantage of the extended training at the Sunday workshops. Thanks to the workshop instructors and all their effort in developing the training.

There were over 150 papers this year, and we learned much about new features in SAS. There were so many things that we can immediately bring back to the office and use. For all the presentations, we must thank our speakers, because they are the NESUG conference.

Our 25th anniversary celebration was excellent. The mentalist entertained and amazed us. Even after examining the spoon (Lisa kept) afterward, and showing it to many attendees, nobody could figure out conclusively how he bent it?! Magnets maybe? Or was it really psychic powers. Amazing!

No conference would be complete without SAS, who we must thank here. SAS provides NESUG with tremendous support for the conference, and we want to take the time here to thank them for the Solutions Center and for all of their expert speakers.

The Collaboration Café was the site of 10 roundtable discussions between SAS folks, NESUG presenters, the conference team and our attendees. Some of these discussions were highly focused and others were very dynamic and far-reaching, but all of them allowed everyone at the table to share their expertise and opinions in the spirit of NESUG.

We hope you had the chance to visit our corporate sponsors this year. Without our corporate support, NESUG wouldn't be the same. If you didn't get the time to visit with them, take some time now, and visit their websites. These are great companies supporting the SAS Community!

Finally, and most important, once again, we want to thank YOU! Without you, there would be no NESUG. NESUG is an all volunteer organization run by and for SAS Users like you. Perhaps in the future, you'll consider volunteering at future NESUGs. We are excited to have you as a friend of NESUG, and are looking forward to seeing you again in Burlington next year!

Best wishes for the holidays!
Lisa and Rob

NESUG Code Clinic

The NESUG Code Clinic was open for business in the Solutions Center  and once again cured a multitude of ills. Thanks to all the clinicians and to Section Chair Elizabeth Axelrod for collecting these interesting factoids:

  • The Clinic was open for a total of 12 hours.
  • Each slot was staffed by 2 clinicians (a total of 24 person/hours of labor).
  • There were 54 clients, who came to the clinic for a total of 893 minutes (that's almost 15 hours).
  • The average visit length was 16.5 minutes.
  • Each clinician saw an average of 2 clients (all clinicians had at least one visitor).
  • The longest visit was 45 minutes.
  • The shortest visit was 1 minute.
  • The Tuesday 10am slot saw the most visitors (7)
  • The Monday 2pm slot saw the fewest clients (2).
  • Tuesday afternoon had the most clients (15), followed closely by Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning (each with 11 clients.)

Mobile App

 Mobile App

The Mobile App was back again this year. In addition to convenient   access to presentation times, locations, and other info, the app had a messaging function allowing attendees to contact one another. There were 1,367 visits, 299 unique visitors, and 31,233 page views. The Apple iPhone and iPad were the primary access devices, but some Android users are loyal devotees as well.
