Walk-A-Thon Pledge Envelopes DUE
Tuesday, Oct 7
|
|
Envelopes with sponsors' pledges are due to your student's teacher on Tuesday, October 7th. Pledge envelopes will be returned after the event. Our goal for this event is to raise $20,000; we can reach this if each student collects a total sponsorship of $35.
Students and classes will have an opportunity to earn a number of prizes and awards based on their participation in the Walk-A-Thon. A special prize will be given to the class that earns the most pledges and the class that collects all pledges and pledge forms first.
To qualify for prizes, pledge money and envelopes will be due by Friday, October 24th. Winners will be announced on Friday, October 31st.

International Walk To School Day
Wednesday, Oct 8
|
|
"It's Cool To Walk To School!"
On Wednesday, October 8th, Bancroft Elementary School will be participating in International Walk To School Day, joining children and adults around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking.
Walking to school promotes physical activity, helps create concern for the environment and reduces traffic congestion, pollution and speed near schools. Every student who walks to school on October 8th (includes biking, scootering, etc.) will receive an "I walked to school today" sticker. Family members who walk with their students can pick up an "I walked to school today" sticker from the school office.
Families who live too far to walk from home can park in the Countrywood Shopping Center parking lot and walk to school along the trail.
Last year, over 80% of Bancroft students walked to school on International Walk to School Day. Let's try to beat that this year! Join your fellow Bancroft families October 8th and walk to school - it's good for you and good for Bancroft! Questions? Contact Lisa Guarnaccia

|
|

Attention Space Rangers!
Lace up your running shoes and get ready for the 5th annual Bancroft Walk-A-Thon! This fundraising event will take place on October 10th and will include lots of fun music, snacks, event giveaways and prizes for all students. Parents, family members, and friends are encouraged to participate as well, so mark your calendars and plan to come walk or run with your Bancroft student!
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade @ 8-9am
Pre-K, K, 1st, and 2nd Grade @ 10-11am
The Bancroft Walk-A-Thon raises money for the current school year to help fund technology improvements, teacher materials, library books, playground supplies, garden program supplies, and our Science Lab. Students get family and friends to sponsor them based on number of laps completed during the event or with a flat donation. Students and classes have the opportunity to earn a number of prizes and awards based on their participation and donation collection. Our goal for the year is to raise $20,000. We reached our goal last year with the great support of our Bancroft community - let's do it again this year!

Odyssey of the Mind Teams UPDATE
|
|

Great News! Bancroft currently has 6 Odyssey teams that will be representing our school this year at the 2015 SF Bay Tournament on February 28th at Concord High School.
We still have several 1st and 2nd graders who would like to be on one of our school's Primary teams, but they are in need of a few more students (teams are 5-7 students)... and who have parents who are willing to co-coach their team. Odyssey trains all parent coaches locally. Please see the fun problem synopsis listed below, and contact Christy Paloutzian if you and your 1st or 2nd grader is interested in forming another Bancroft Primary Team.
Primary: Wacky Weather Warning
Teams will create and present a humorous performance where a meteorologist makes three predictions of "wacky weather". The meteorologist will speak in rhymes and use a team-created forecasting device and a backdrop that serves as a weather map. The community will "tune in" to get the weather report in any creative way the team wishes.
Questions? Contact Christy Paloutzian.

ONGOING: Box Top Fundraising Drive
|
|
Students, Parents, Friends of Bancroft - Start thinking about how you can help our school by keeping your eyes open and spotting pink Box Tops to cut and bring in to school.
You probably have some floating around already at home! Just bring them in to your classroom or to the office marked with your classroom number or teacher's name, and your class could win a "Popsicle Party!"
The class with the most Box Tops at the end of the year will win a "Popsicle Party," and EVERY time your class turns in 1500 Box Tops you can win a "Popsicle Party" too! If every student in your class brings in at least 5 Box Tops each month for the rest of the school year that would be 1500 Box Tops and we will reach our annual Box Top fundraising goal of $1,000.
Want to check where your class is in the running? Check out the poster in the office to see how your class stacks up.
