Hello Ladies,

Spring is finally here! Leagues are open and event registration has begun. Please take a few minutes to take a look at the web site and remember to check in often for news and changes to the 2015 schedule.

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend!

From May 1 to 3, our Chapter Members have access to the amazing Very Important Member (VIM) online shopping opportunity. We can purchase golf products and apparel for only 10% above wholesale! This means a tremendous savings (approx. 30-60% off) from Cutter & Buck, Bionic Gloves, Clarissa Tumblers, Sundog Eyewear, TourMARK Grips, Golfstream Shoes, Volvik, and SkyCaddie.

To take advantage of this opportunity:
  • Go to
  • Login using your regular EWGA login.
    • If this is your first time accessing the EWGA Member Clubhouse sign in using the email address you have on file with the EWGA.
    • Enter the default password, "Password1" (case-sensitive). From there you will be able to set up your personalized password as well as access to the VIM.
Remember this is for members only, so if you haven't joined or renewed yet, do it now! We also suggest that you set up and test your login before the extravaganza begins. If you have login issues, call Noel Pena, 800-407-1477 x30 or email

We only have access to these incredible deals for 72 hours. Mark your calendars, set reminders and keep your credit cards handy - the shop will be open starting May 1.

Our national sponsor is having a ladies night on Sunday, April 26, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This is an in-store event only so click here to find the location nearest you. There will be discounts on clothes, equipment, demos, and giveaways. Give the sponsor some support and get a change to update your wardrobe and equipment before the season kicks into full throttle.

Are you keeping a handicap? Do you wait weeks to enter your scores? There is now an app for your phone to enter your scores. For those using the GN21 system the app name is EWGA, and those on GHIN called GHIN mobile. Now that it is easier to enter your scores, give it a try, then you can enter the "Biggest Loser" contest. Entering your scores will be easier than ever, give it a try.

Spring is finally here, leagues are open! This year we added a new league in the Boston area at President's in Quincy. We have two leagues in New Hampshire: Amherst and Campbell's Scottish Highlands. Click here for the entire list.

Not sure you can commit to play every week? Consider being an alternate!

Tournament Instructions

Pairing requests: When registering for this event, please indicate your ONE playing partner in the "Notes to Tournament Director" section of the registration. Please make sure that your playing partner will be registering for this event so that we can accommodate all requests. Please take this opportunity to get to know others in the chapter, especially our new members. This will also make setting up the pairings and tee times less complex for the event coordinator.

Starts on May 1

Enjoy squaring off in a friendly head-to-head competition with fellow Chapter members?

Want to strengthen your mental toughness and lower your handicap?

What is Match Play?

In match play, each hole is a separate competition. Simple - win a hole, that's one for you; lose a hole, that's one for your opponent, ties called halves score a half-point for each player. In this format (unlike traditional match play in which the contest is complete when one side cannot "catch up"), you will continue to play all eighteen holes, since every point counts.

To register, click here. For more information, click here.

This year's Senior Players Championship will be held at Belmont Country Club in Belmont, MA, June 9-14. Volunteers are needed before the tournament and for the entire tournament week starting on Monday, June 8. Volunteer Parking will be at Bentley in Waltham. Cost: $75 for the uniform package, badge (good all week, not just when you're working), a weekly pass for guest of your choice, lunch during your shifts, and admission to the volunteer party.

To sign up, register here. Deadline: As Soon As Possible! (to make sure you get notified about required training in April or May).

There are volunteer opportunities for both on and off the course. For a list of committees, click hereYou must be able to commit to 3 shifts. Shifts are 4-6 hours long. You may do more shifts and may sign up for two different committees and split time between them. You can also do more than one shift a day.

At this time, Chapter members have signed up for: Media, Patriot's Outpost Hospitality (our chapter charity, Golf for All will be located here). On-course marshals are needed for Tuesday-Sunday, including the ProAM. EWGA Boston does not yet have enough people to be assigned a dedicated hole.

You are a "new" golfer -- looking for a guide to playing the game? Or have you been playing golf forever but still feel like a "new" golfer at times? The Den Caddie has some tips to help!

Question: Golf seems so serious, do I have to be serious?
Answer: It is okay to play golf for FUN!

Here are some tips for new golfers from the PGA and Get Ready Golf:

1. It's okay to not keep score.
2. It's okay to play from the shortest tees or start at the 150-yard marker.
3. It's okay to give yourself a better lie by rolling the ball around a little. It's okay to tee the ball up anywhere when you are first learning.
4. It's okay to only count swings when you make contact with the ball.
18. It's okay to PLAY GOLF JUST FOR FUN!
