Can you believe that it is already the first week in January? Spring is just around the corner! It does look as if some of you were able to play locally. From Ellen Murphy:
"This was a first for me: I golfed on Boxing Day, in the Northeast. The sun was out, there was very little wind. I actually parred a few holes! Stowe Acres was open. The parking lot was full. The South course was in good shape. It brought back fond memories of the Monster League."
The Board is hard at work setting the schedule for 2015. One of our first events will be our participation at the National Golf Expo in Boston, which is being held at the Seaport World Trade Center in South Boston. The National Golf Expo features tons of fantastic golf-related exhibits, displays, and interactive features. Stop by our table and don't forget to stop by and show support to our Eagle Sponsor, Joe & Leigh's. For more details on the event, click here.
Interested in going to the show but not interested in paying the entrance fee? We are looking for volunteers to help at the table on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Feb. 27 - March 1). Helping for a few hours will allow you to enjoy the show before or after your shift. If interested, click this link and remember to list your availability.

What do those red and yellow stakes mean?
|
Golf courses are designed to provide the golfer with a playing field. The playing field contains safe areas (tee, fairway, green) and unsafe areas (hazards, bunkers, out of bounds).
Two types of unsafe areas are water hazards marked with yellow stakes and lateral hazards marked with red stakes.
The color of the stake determines what you can do if your ball ends up in one of these unsafe areas.
There are three things you need to know before you can proceed:
- Is your ball in the hazard?
- Where did the ball enter the hazard?
- What type of hazard is it?
