Tee Off 2013 - A Great Success!
A big Thank You to all the volunteers, members and prospective new members who attended Tee Off 2013 on March 10.
Dottie Pepper was the highlight of the day, sharing her personal stories on and off the golf course, answering questions, and autographed her books and Bogey head covers. We want to thank all of our sponsors who participated in the event.
How about joining a League? This year, there are 19 leagues, including leagues added at The Nine Club and Shining Rock. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, we have a league for you. Registration for Leagues is now open. Several leagues have already filled, so don't wait any longer! Sign ups end April 26. Go to our Chapter Website to register. *Note: For Alternates, there is a change this year: $25/2 leagues (instead of 3).
New League at the Back 9 Club, Lakeville
Our new league at The Back 9 Club is particularly suited for players of all levels. This challenging 18-hole executive course was completely renovated in 2008. The famous course layout, which attracts scratch golfers to beginners, was kept intact, but many aesthetic and necessary changes were made. An executive style par-3 course, it is "beginner friendly" yet with three sets of tees, The Back 9 Club offers something for every skill level. With idyllic ponds coming into play often and big inviting greens surrounded by sand traps, picking the right set of tees is the first challenge. Given our busy schedules, an executive course provides a great way to sharpen your essential short game skills! Back 9 has also fully upgraded and rebuilt its kitchen, bar and dining area, making it a great place to relax and socialize with league members after your round. As an added bonus, punchcards are issued by the course for this league and come with 4 free 9 hole rounds!

Like "The Biggest Loser" on TV...Losing equals Winning. The EWGA Biggest Loser Handicap Challenge is a contest for watching your handicap and your golf game lose strokes. Ever wonder what it would be like to score a Birdie or a Par on every hole on a golf course? You can! The score of PAR on the score card is the measure of a scratch or a really good golfer. It is not the measure of how well you play the golf course. A handicap in golf is one way to measure your level of play using your scores from the rounds you play. For example if your handicap is 36, on an average golf course, a Par 5 on the score card is really Par 7 for you. A Par 3 is really a Par 5 for you. So if you score a 4 on the hole, congratulations, that is a Birdie! The Biggest Loser Challenge is a way to learn about handicaps and how see how low you can go. Handicaps and Entry into the challenge is Free, included with your EWGA membership. To learn more about Handicaps, the Biggest Loser Challenge, and to enter, click on this link. Questions? Please email Kate Collins, Handicap Chair.
