Generous Bed Donation Helps Homeless Pets in North Texas

Nearly 1,000 New Pet Beds Donated to Dallas Companion Animal Project

IRVING, TX - October 03, 2013 - The Dallas Companion Animal Project (DCAP) on September 23 received a donation of nearly 1,000 brand new luxury pet beds. The donation was received from a leading national retailer as part of their efforts to support local Pet Placement Partners. The donation, valued at more than $40,000, will be made available to local non-profit animal rescue organizations and animal shelters through the Dallas Companion Animal Project (DCAP) Assistance Network (http://dallasanimals.org/).

The DCAP network, made possible by the Aidmatrix Foundation and paid for by a grant from The Meadows Foundation, is designed to encourage in-kind donations from corporate and business donors to local rescue groups. DCAP's overall strategy is to save more lives, and build capacity of Texas pet shelters, fosters and rescue organizations for animal welfare throughout Texas.

The beds range from plush sofa beds to soothing orthopedic pads to pet pillows. They will be available for free to DCAP Active Partners through the DCAP Assistance Network, an online portal provided by Aidmatrix that makes donating in-kind goods to animal welfare organizations simple, easy, and safe. This program leverages the Aidmatrix SCM4Giving™ In-Kind Module, which is an online application that helps manage in-kind product donations. It easily scales to handle large transaction volumes and integrates with other modules to provide simple end-to-end processing of donation offers. It combines best practices from the for-profit and nonprofit worlds to collect, review and allocate offers.

Transportation for the beds was provided by the retailer, who was referred to DCAP by Operation Kindness. DCAP volunteers inventoried and sorted the beds, which are being stored in a warehouse space donated by Gordon Lights. Gordon Lights is an animal-friendly, community-oriented DCAP Partner that provides custom computerized professional lighting rentals, sales, and design and programming services.

"This donation will change the lives of hundreds of pets waiting for their forever homes in shelters and foster homes throughout Texas, thanks to the support from all these great organizations," commented Rebecca Poling, Animal Welfare Program Manager for Aidmatrix.

The beds will be made available for free to local 501c3 animal rescue groups and shelters that partner with DCAP beginning this week. For more information, visit  www.dallasanimals.org or email info@dallasanimals.org.
