Each month, the Organization Development Network shares news and information about important happenings within OD Network as well as sources to help support the advancement of your OD practice.
Our Field. Our World. Our Impact.

As we prepare for the start of the 2015 OD Network | IODA Annual Conference, we recognize the tremendous leadership we have within our OD community, and we look forward to bringing the WORLD together at this global event in Portland, Ore. from October 17-20.

This year, we have new, engaging inspirational speakers and immense learning opportunities, the 2015 annual conference is designed to bring together industry leaders from around the world. The 2015 conference sessions reflect the global connections OD professionals share and will inspire all of us to take our career to the next level.

Participate Now in the OD Competency Validation Process!

We are in the process of developing the OD Network's Global OD Competency Model. In keeping with our mission of serving and advancing the OD profession and in response to member feedback requesting a resource that defines the elements of OD work, we have begun to identify the differentiating competencies needed to succeed as an OD professional.

Why a global competency model?

  • Personal Development - Calibrate performance, plan and manage professional development
  • Professional Standards - Set standards for the OD profession
  • A Common Language - Access leading edge practices, tools and technologies using a common language and framework

  • Now through August 31, you have the opportunity to participate in a content validation study to empirically investigate the accuracy and relevance of the prototype Global OD Competency Model in describing the attributes needed by successful OD practitioners. As a practitioner, we want to know your perspective on the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics demonstrated by superior performers within the OD profession.

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your feedback is extremely valuable as it will help us continue to provide the OD community with superior tools and resources to promote talent development and rigorous standards for our profession.

We look forward to your participation!

    Sincerely,

    Matt Minahan and Sherry Duda

    Culture, Diversity & Inclusion

    Article by Melanie Duppins

As an HR leader and an MSOD student, diversity and inclusion are words I think about all the time.

In my day-to-day work for a national nonprofit, ensuring our workplace culture is open and inclusive is a top priority - not just because it's the right thing to do, but also because it makes good business sense. In fact, building a culture that values the strengths a diverse team can bring is how we attract and retain top talent of all ethnicities and races, genders, ages and walks of life.

With that said, there's a line of reasoning I've often seen under-girding diversity programs that aren't working - one that I believe runs the risk of derailing even the strongest diversity and inclusion efforts.

    Elections Reminder

Reminder - Cast Your Ballot for the 2016 OD Network Board of Trustees

It is time to vote for the future leadership of the OD Network. The Nominating Committee has done an outstanding job of selecting the best candidates for your consideration.

To fulfill our mission of advancing the practice and theory of OD, the OD Network needs Trustees who represent a solid mix of internal and external practitioners to address the perspectives of our membership, along with a mixture of locations and a balance of diverse cultures, genders, sexual orientations and race/ethnicity on the Board.

Click here review candidate's statement of interest and cast your ballot, you must be logged in to vote.
