In this issue I share some nuggets of wisdom presented by Gary Shapiro, the President and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association. Gary's trade group represents more than 2000 consumer electronics companies.
Gary was one of the keynote speakers at the PPAI North American Leadership Conference. These 10 strategies are quite thought provoking. I'm sure you will benefit from this quick overview in the article below.
Coming up, we have two unique SuccessTracks Learning Experiences. Changing Roles and Emerging Industry Trends and The Business Fulfillment Project. See below for more details and the registration links.
We also offer two beneficial resource articles in this issue.

In this Learning Experience we share strategies you can use to increase profits, improve morale and create business loyalty. You can also attract the right employees and customers...while selling with more of a socially responsible focus.
Gary had some interesting things to say. Have you ever heard of a Chinese brand? Korea has Samsung, Japan has Sony, China has....?? There are several reasons for the lack of prominent Chinese brands and some of those reasons are covered here.
It's encouraging to note that Gary believes that our industry succeeds because we create a branding experience using the 5 senses. Obviously there was more shared in Chicago than I can convey in this column, but I'm going to give you some nuggets from his thought provoking session on innovation. Click here for the full story!
Hold Your Own Open Gym
A Commentary from Rebecca Kollmann, AIA
High school athletes are expected to spend time practicing in the off-season of the sports they participate in. They call these "open gyms."
They are truly "open"-you will see middle school as well as college players dropping in. Coaches don't coach at these events-they may unlock the doors and watch the activity, but the drills and scrimmages are organized by one of the players on the team, usually a high school senior.
