From Incident to Accident: Keeping It Stable
Of all crane related accidents, tipping accidents are the most common, however with a little due diligence on the operator's part, there are many ways to avoid tipping incidents becoming tipping accidents.

In the next several weeks we will explore mobile crane stability--how balance and leverage work with crane stability ratings and the position of the crane come together to create a more or less stable crane.

Crane Tech Tip of the Week

According to the ASME B30.10 Hooks Standard,
hooks are to be removed from service if they are worn 10% from their original dimensions.

Some hook manufacturers recommend removal from service if they become worn only 5% in  in specific areas of the hook.

Also when inspecting hooks, look for any deformation, throat increase or twist.

If you need an updated copy of any ASME Standard, give Crane Tech a call and order one from our Product Team. 800.521.7669.
