Mosaic Silver Award for Safety

Last week Crane Tech had the honor to be recognized by Mosaic with a Silver Award for Excellence In Safety Leadership and Performance for 2014. "Being a partner with an organization that places such emphasis on safety and recognizes their contractors for maintaining safe conditions is a privilege for Crane Tech," stated Frank Steffens, Crane Tech's On-site Safety Consultant for Mosaic's Mobile Equipment program. "We are happy to be involved with creating a safer workplace by providing training for the men and women of Mosaic. This is our fourth year receiving this award, and we are looking forward to receiving the Gold award next year."
Mosaic Fertilizer, LLC is the world's leading producer of phosphate crop nutrients, supplying farmers around the world. To be eligible for this award, Crane Tech had to meet or exceed Mosaic's incident rate target.
Crane Tech has been providing on-site training for Mosaic, as well as the companies they evolved from for over 20 years, and will continue to help them pursue an injury-free workplace through education--just like we do for every client.
Remember, if you ever need advice on a safety issue, feel free to call us to talk through the situation. After all,
Safety through Education is more than our tagline, it is our guiding principle!

What Our Students Say...
"Dave was a very knowledgeable and interesting instructor. I enjoyed class and learned a lot even though I have been a crane operator for a long time. I would definitely recommend Dave and this course to others!"

Tell Us What Would You Do
Last week's newsletter featured a hypothetical situation that involved an old crane. We have received some great feedback, but would love a little more input before we report back next week.
If you missed it, click here to read the article or
Then vote and let us know: Hypothetically speaking, if you were the crane operator, would you have made the lift?
- Yes, I would make the lift
- Yes, I would make the lift, only after talking with the supervisor
- No, I would not make the lift

Crane Tech Tip of the Week
In order to maintain safety, when lubricating wire rope be sure to use proper rope lubricant that does not hinder visual examination.
When wires break on preformed ropes they lay flat and heavy lubricant can hide these breaks. Also heavy lubricant may not penetrate to the interior wires to keep the rope working properly.
