Overhead Crane Operator                    March 2 - 3 
For Operators & Trainers                             Chattanooga

Upon completion of the course, the student will fully understand the hazardous nature of a variety of hoisting activities and be familiar with the requirements necessary to avoid unplanned occurrences and accidents.  This training is accomplished in accordance with applicable OSHA regulations, ASME and CMAA standards, manufacturers requirements and recommendations, and accepted safe hoisting practices. 
 
What you will learn:  
* Five common hoisting mistakes that lead to accidents.
* Pre-use inspections.
* Recognizing and controlling work site hazards.
* Lift and travel route planning.
* How to control and steady swinging loads.
* Component interaction.
* Emergency shut offs.
* The crane operator's role in predictive maintenance.
* Lift methods that cut years off your crane's life expectancy.
* How the misconception "it looks easy" costs industry billions.


 
Qualified Rigger Level 2                        March 3 - 4
For Riggers and Trainers                             Chattanooga

Federal OSHA �1926 Subpart CC requires all riggers to be qualified.  Our Qualified Rigger Level 2 program provides the training necessary for an employer to designate a person as qualified to work as a Level 2 rigger.  Level 2 riggers are trained to perform rigging calculations, determine the correct slings and rigging gear for safe load handling and to direct a level 1 rigger.

All students will know and understand:
* The proper application of slings, rigging hardware, and below the hook lifting devices.
* The calculation of sling angle stress/tension.
* The calculation of load weight.
* How to find the center of gravity of a load.
* The identification and explanation of load balance.
* The proper identification, selection and use of various sling types.
* The proper identification, selection and use of various rigging hardware and hooks.
* The proper identification, selection and use of below-the-hook lifting devices.
* Working load limits (WLL) for all slings and rigging gear.
* The proper use of taglines.


 

Qualified Signal Person                           March 9
For Signalers and Trainers                            Chattanooga

Federal OSHA �1926 Subpart CC requires all persons providing crane signals meet qualification requirements in accordance with the standard. Crane Tech's Qualified Signal Person program provides the training and testing required by the regulation.

All students will:
* Know and understand when signals are required.
* Know and understand the type of signals used.
* Know and understand the proper method for signal communication by hand and by voice.
* Be competent in the application of the type of signals used.
* Have a basic understanding of equipment operation and limitations, including the crane dynamics.
* Demonstrate the requirements to give signals through an oral or written test and through a practical test. 

 

Qualified Rigger Level 1                         March 10
For Riggers and Trainers                              Chattanooga

Federal OSHA �1926 construction standard requires all riggers to be qualified.  Crane Tech's Qualified Rigger Level 1 program provides training necessary to meet the regulations as a basic level rigger. Program also satisfies API requirements.  

All students will know and understand:
* The proper identification and use of various sling types
* The proper identification and use of various rigging hardware and hooks.
* The proper identification and use of below-the-hook lifting devices.
* Pre-use inspection and removal criteria
* The effects of sling angle tensions
* The various sling hitches and how to apply them
* Load balance and center of gravity.
  


Aerial Lift Train-the-Trainer                   March 11

For Operators and Trainers                          Chattanooga


Aerial Lift Operator training provides instruction to ensure equipment operators are fully aware of the hazards associated with this type equipment and understand their responsibility for continual safety.


 

All students will know and understand:
* The proper identification and use of various aerial types.
* Pre-use inspection procedures.
* Safe use and operation skills.
* Controls and capacity limitations.
 
  

Forklift Train-the-Trainer                        March 12

For Operators and Trainers                          Chattanooga

Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift Trucks) represent one of the greatest potential job-site hazards in the industry. This program covers both vertical mast and telescopic boom forklifts. Participants learn operational safety, how to avoid accidents, and gain critical information necessary to comply with OSHA regulations.   


All students will know and understand:
* The proper identification and use of various forklift types.
* Pre-use inspection procedures.
* Operational characteristics and truck stability.
* Accident avoidance techniques.
* Proper load stacking and load centers.
* Operator safety requirements.
