This program provides the training for persons who operate or want to operate overhead cranes and hoists. Training consists of classroom and hands-on instruction, and is compliance based in accordance with Federal OSHA regulations and ASME B30 standards. The expectation of this training is to ensure each student is competent to operate overhead cranes and hoists.
The objectives for this program are to ensure that all students fully understand the hazardous nature of overhead cranes and hoists and methods of accident avoidance. To assure management that all personnel in these positions have been formally instructed in the necessary safety procedures by a professional training organization specializing in these subjects. Students will be able to:
Perform frequent (pre-use) inspections
Demonstrate the safe operation of overhead cranes
Explain how overhead cranes operate
Identify safety concerns associated with overhead cranes
Demonstrate how to properly rig various loads for lifting
Demonstrate how to perform daily pre-use inspections for overhead cranes and rigging
Demonstrate the designated hands signals for overhead crane operations
This program provides training for persons who inspect or want to inspect overhead cranes and hoists. Training consists of classroom and hands-on instruction, and is compliance based addressing both Federal OSHA regulations and ASME B30 standards. The expectation of this training is to ensure each student is competent to perform periodic inspections of overhead cranes and hoists.
The objectives for this program are to ensure that all students fully understand crane components and their interaction. Crane inspectors will be able to:
Perform overhead crane and hoist inspections
Identify regulations pertaining to overhead cranes and hoists
Identify crane deficiencies
Evaluate components to regulatory and/or manufacturer's rejection criteria
Determine root cause of deficiencies and failure analysis
Perform load and deflection testing
Properly document inspection findings
Detect modifications and alterations
