Look for Your Winter Conference Registration Book in the Mail
The 2016 IVMA Winter Conference will return to The Meadows Conference Center at Prairie Meadows in Altoona. Registration books will be sent out the first week in December. In the book you will find a full list of sessions, a schedule of events, speaker bios and a registration form that you can mail in. You can also register online at www.iovavma.org or call the IVMA office at 800-369-9564 to register. Take advantage of the Early Bird Discount by registering by January 26 to save $50 on your registration.

A reduced room rate is available at the Prairie Meadows Hotel for IVMA members during Winter Conference. To reserve a room, go to
www.iowavma.org for a link or call 515-957-3000 and let them know that you would like to register with the IVMA block of rooms. In order to obtain the reduced rate, reservations must be made by Tuesday, January 26.

The IVMA, ISU Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) and SCAVMA will be holding Speed Interviews for ISU CVM VM3s and VM4s during the 2016 Winter Conference.
 
Future veterinarians will spend five minutes with each IVMA member in their area of interest to hone their interview skills. This is a great opportunity for the students to get practice interviewing and for you to meet potential applicants.
 
Even if you are not actively seeking new associates, come interact with the veterinary students and join in on a great networking opportunity.
 
Who: IVMA Members from all fields of veterinary medicine (production animal, companion animal, mixed, industry and government etc.)

Dr. Heather Case, the Executive Director of the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, will be speaking at the Hoover High School in Des Moines as part of the Hoover High School Distinguished Lecture Series. Dr. Case will discuss her work in various aspects of veterinary medicine, from her work in Louisiana assisting with post-Katrina efforts to the creation of policy and licensing examinations for Veterinary Medical Professionals. There is no cost to attend.

New Guidance Available on Use of Antimicrobials
The AVMA has developed resources for veterinarians about the judicious therapeutic use of antimicrobials.
The following are resources from the Antimicrobial Guidelines Working Group of the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases (ISCAID) and the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA); however, these resources are not intended to be, and should not be interpreted as establishing standards of care.

(BIVI) is offering the Future Service Scholarship to support future cattle veterinarians graduating from the Iowa State University (ISU) College of Veterinary Medicine.
