Diallo wins TSCPA award & scholarship
Accounting Excellence Award goes to Allen Diallo

The TSCPA Accounting Education Foundation, which promotes and rewards educational excellence, presented the Accounting Excellence Award to Boukary "Allen" Diallo, a CBA senior from the Ivory Coast, at the TSCPA luncheon on March 4, 2016. Diallo also received the TSCPA - Corpus Christi Chapter Accounting Scholarship. Also in attendance were faculty members lecturer Adria Vasquez and Assistant Professor Dr. Kendra Huff. CBA alumnus, Greg Wallace, also attended as a guest of Boukary's. The society is committed to serving the public interest with programs that advance the highest standards of ethics and practice within the CPA profession. We are very proud of Allen's accomplishments!



Delta Sigma Pi students attend LEAD conference
Senior Pablo Portillo awarded Collegian of the Year

Seventeen CBA students attended the LEAD Provincial Conference in Dallas, Texas this month, an event dedicated to leadership topics and designed to appeal to Delta Sigma Pi pledges and collegiate and alumni members. LEAD Conferences are entertaining, fast-paced forums for building skills that serve well in the development of professional life, community involvement and membership in Delta Sigma Pi.

Pablo Portillo, a marketing and finance major from Houston and chapter president, was awarded Regional Collegian of the Year at the conference. This award is presented to an outstanding collegiate member of Delta Sigma Pi who has exemplified the values and ideals of the fraternity, and is presented on the regional-level based on nominations from the member's respective collegiate chapters. It recognizes an individual for his or her contributions, achievements, participation and personal character. Pablo competed against eight other nominees for the Gulf Western Region winner.

Delivering real world experience to the classroom
Dr. Rusty Karst, College of Business Administration

"I thus left the security and familiarity of 25 years in affiliated industries for the uncharted academic waters of pursuing a Ph.D. and becoming a university professor," Karst said. Joining the ranks of university faculty has been rewarding for Karst. "I have experienced much joy in the classroom thus far. I truly enjoy helping students make connections between course theory/knowledge and practice. Seeing them develop and grow is a great reward for me," he said. Read more about this article.


Jose Mendoza II
Alumnus Jose Mendoza joins advising team 
CBA welcomes Jose Mendoza to our college

The CBA welcomes Mr. Jose Mendoza to our advising team. Jose is a Kingsville native and double alumnus of Texas A&M-Kingsville. He received his MBA from the College of Business Administration, which prompted his professional career to include positions such as personal banker at Kleberg Bank and manager for IBC Bank. He has served as an advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences for the past two years. In addition to advising, he also has been teaching Learning in Global Context in the CBA for a year and will continue in that role, along with advising in our college. Dr. Natalya Delcoure
CBA Dean receives Outstanding Educator Award  
at Conference of the Southwestern Finance Association

Dr. Natalya Delcoure, dean of the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, recently received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Federation of Business Disciplines.
 
She received the award at the 2016 Conference of the Southwestern Finance Association (SWFA) held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Federation of Business Disciplines held in Oklahoma City. Read more about this article.
