CBA School Year Concludes with Annual College Awards Ceremony and Dinner

The College of Business Administration celebrated its second annual College Honors Ceremony and Dinner on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in the Memorial Student Union Ballroom. The special evening highlighted the accomplishments of business students and paid tribute to the alumni, parents and friends who continue to build and strengthen the CBA.

More than $40,000 in scholarships was awarded to 32 outstanding business students. Additional awards presented included the college's prestigious Wall of Honor Awards. Recipients were Mr. Leonard Bedell of Houston, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Tom and Glenda Best of Kingsville, Texas. The Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award went to Ms. Maria Ximena Herrera Rea, a finance major from Ibarra, Ecuador; the Delta Sigma Pi Key Scholarship Award went to Mr. Noel Garcia, Information Systems major from Robstown, Texas and the Students' Choice Distinguished Teaching Award was presented to Associate Professor Dr. John Cicala. Once again, congratulations to all our award recipients!
 
Delta Mu Delta Inducts Ricki Cunningham as an Honorary Member of the Delta Beta Chapter

Delta Mu Delta inducted South Texas native Ricki Cunningham as an honorary member in their May 5th induction ceremony, along with 15 new students.

Giving has always been a part of Ricki's life.  As a lifelong resident of Kingsville, she understands and cares for the people, the culture and the community. Those who know her have seen Ricki wear many different hats. She is very active in her church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir!  She is a past president of the Woman's Club of Kingsville, The Kingsville Garden Club and Business and Professional Women's Club. She is a member of the Kingsville Noon Rotary Club and serves on the President's Legacy Ball Committee at Texas A&M Unviersity-Kingsville.
Texas A&M-Kingsville Holds Spring Commencement May 15

More than 1,000 prospective graduates crossed the stage to receive their degrees during four commencement ceremonies held at the Steinke Physical Education Center at Texas A&M University-Kingsville Friday, May 15.

Graduating at the 10 a.m. ceremony were all degree candidates from the Colleges of Business Administration and Education and Human Performance. The graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences made up the 1 p.m. ceremony. Crossing the stage at 4 p.m. were candidates from the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Sciences and the baccalaureate candidates from the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering. The graduate candidates from the College of Engineering graduated at 7 p.m.

There were two commencement speakers. Dr. Paul Hageman, Regents Professor of Music, spoke at the 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ceremonies. Howard A. Garig, alumnus and drilling operations superintendent for ExxonMobil Development Company, spoke at the 4 and 7 p.m. ceremonies.

Four ROTC cadets were commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Army. James Tyler Bonorden, Virginia Capetillo, Roberto Alonzo Garza and Rodolofo Salinas were honored during the 4 p.m. ceremony. Read more about this article.

CBA Hosts Its First Business Leadership Camp
The Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration will be hosting a one-day Business Leadership camp on Thursday, June 11, 2015 for high school students interested in pursuing a business degree. Highly qualified CBA faculty and staff will lead this one day event designed to introduce business topics used in preparation for college. All high school juniors or seniors are invite to apply for this great opportunity to get a feel for college and set goals for a brighter future! Space is limited, so register now!

 

CBA College Awards Are Announced for 2015

The awards went to (left to right) lecturer Harmeet Singh for the Distinguished Educator of the Year Award and Dr. Hans Schumann for the Distinguished Service of the Year Award. Distinguished Researchers of the Year Awards went to  Dr. Valerie Bartelt, Assistant Professor J.R. Manning Faculty Fellow in Strategic Initiatives and Dr. Thomas Krueger, J.R. Manning Endowed Professor of Innovation in Business Education. Congratulations to all!
 Cicala Attends Harvard Law School Symposium in Cambridge, Massachusetts

 Delta Sigma Pi Rose Ball Addressed by Zeta Nu Chapter Founder Forbes Baker

 The Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity- Zeta Nu Chapter celebrated its 50th Anniversary by hosting the Rose Ball.  The event was held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Memorial Student Union Ballroom. Mr. Forbes Baker, a 1965 graduate and Zeta Nu Founding President, served as the keynote speaker for this very special occasion.
