A.I.T.P. Student Organization Becomes Chaptered at the National Level
|
The Association of Information Technology Professionals (A.I.T.P.) set out this semester to become a student chapter recognized on the national level. There are six steps to becoming a student chapter under A.I.T.P. They are chapter affiliation application, model student bylaws, election of chapter officers, a letter from the dean stating that the student chapter meets the requirements for a student organization at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, letter of acceptance from a sponsoring professional chapter and a transmittal form with no less than ten members with dues paid by those students. CBA Student Pablo Portillo is Portrayed in Javelina Today Magazine

If there were 25 hours in a day and eight days in a week, Pablo Portillo still wouldn't have time to take a break. As a double major in marketing and finance, Portillo carries 21 credit hours each semester in order to graduate with his class. That is six hours over what most college students take and nine over the 12 that is considered full-time. In addition, the Houston native works a part-time job on campus; is president of Delta Sigma Pi, an honorary business fraternity; sits on the College of Business Administration's student advisory board and maintains a 3.5 grade point average. He lives off campus, prepares his own meals and manages to get in a daily workout. Read more on this article.

Moment with an Expert, Dr. Hans Schumann
|
The Office of Marketing and Communications maintains a list of campus experts that provide answers for the media on more than 200 different topics. These are faculty and staff who have volunteered to be "on call" when needed. One of these experts is Dr. Hans Schumann, professor of practice in the accounting and finance department in the College of Business Administration. He is the manager of the new product pricing concentration that is a new option for students studying toward a general business degree. Schumann teaches entrepreneurship, international business, pricing for profitability, economics and finance. His research interests include product pricing and economics, transportation and energy economics and entrepreneurship. Read more from this article.

Dr. Priti Verma had a conference paper titled "Modeling Environmental Risk - Evidence from DJSI" accepted for the Academy of Business Research Conference to be held in New Orleans March 25-27, 2015.
Dr. Natalya Delcoure and Dr. Kendra Huff had a conference paper titled "Determinants of IFRS voluntary adoption in emerging and frontier markets" accepted for the Academy of Business Research Conference to be held in New Orleans March 25-27, 2015.
Dr. Natalya Delcoure, Dean of the College of Business Administration, was guest speaker at the Kingsville Community Federal Credit Union Annual Meeting and Banquet on February 19, 2015.
