The Executive-in-Residence Program Brings New Perspectives to the CBA for Student Engagement

The CBA has embarked upon an Executive-in-Residence Program (EIR) which provides our undergraduate students opportunities to engage in real-world business consulting with actual business and non-profit organizations.

The mission of the program is to enable students experiential learning opportunities that are reflective of the real-world of business into which they will graduate, and to make students more effective leaders through such experiences. Our Executives in Residence are (in alphabetical order) Mr. Tom Best, Mr. Ed Martin, Mr. J. Philip McCormick, and Mr. Renato Ramirez. The first presentation and luncheon will be delivered by Mr. Martin (pictured). We are very fortunate that such outstanding representatives of the business community have agreed to join us in this venture!

The Healthcare Connection
Texas A&M-Kingsville's faculty promote healthcare network, thanks to grant.

You're feeling sick but it's Saturday evening and your primary physician's office is closed, so it's off to the emergency room or clinic you go. Filling out the paperwork is hard. You are too sick to remember what different kinds of medications you take and at what dosage. That kind of information is necessary for a doctor unfamiliar with your medical background.

Thanks to the Health Information Network of South Texas (HINSTX), it should be possible soon for patients to go into a South Texas emergency center or even a doctor other than their primary physician and have medical personnel gain easy access to medical records. Read more.

Computer Labs Go Green
TAMUK classrooms and labs find different ways to conserve energy.

Computer labs across campus will soon be a little greener--as in energy friendly-- thanks to the university wide initiative known as Green Certifications.

The changes began last year, during TAMUK's Sustainability Week, which is
dedicated to promoting awareness of cutting down on waste and becoming
more energy efficient.

The Library Commons in Jernigan Library became the first lab to get certification, but other labs are beginning to catch up, like the computer
lab in the College of Business Administration. Read more.
