CBA Proudly Joins Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME)
|
The College of Business Administration has signed on to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). The PRME initiative is the first organized relationship between the United Nations and management-related academic institutions, business schools, and universities. Launched at the 2007 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in Geneva, the Principles provide an engagement framework for academic institutions to advance corporate sustainability and social responsibility through the incorporation of universal values into curricula and research. To date, more than 500 leading business schools and management-related academic institutions from more than 80 countries across the world are signatories of PRME. In fact, more than a third of the Financial Times' top 100 business schools participate in PRME. Read more.

Summer Internship Turns into Volunteer Work for the Government for Araceli Hernandez

Information systems major Araceli Hernandez, a senior from Mission, Texas, obtained an internship through HACU with the USDA-NRCS Central National Technology Support Center located in Fort Worth, Texas to help revamp their website. After a ten week internship, there were many things the department still wanted to achieve in order to market the department to both field workers and the public. Read more.

New Faculty Member Rusty Karst Receives a Scholarship Award from TBHF

One of our newest faculty members, Rusty V. Karst, is being honored as a scholarship recipient by the Texas Business Hall of Fame (TBHF) at their annual induction ceremony on November 5, 2014. Rusty is currently Ph.D., ABD and is in the process of completing his dissertation at The University of North Texas. The TBHF awards $10,000 in scholarships to outstanding Texas university students, encouraging them to put their talent, skills and entrepreneurial spirit to work in Texas. Rusty Karst is a TBHF scholarship recipient this year due to his trended support of Texas business as a previous executive, business owner, consultant and new faculty member at Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration.

Student Recruiting Efforts Underway for Next Fall

CBA faculty and administrators have joined forces with the Office of Admissions in an aggressive recruiting campaign to Coastal Bend area high schools. Presentations have been made at Bishop, HM King, Orange Grove, Aransas Pass, Robstown, West Oso, San Diego and Del Mar Collegiate High Schools to eager college-bound students. Registration on the spot was encouraged with promising results. These efforts help us to find students who are a good fit for an education in business followed by lucrative careers for tomorrow's leaders. Trips to Rio Grande Valley schools are taking place this week.
