 | Left: Quinten Womack, Right: Rene Ramirez |
Every year aspiring accountants receive a scholarship award from the Texas Society of CPAs. This scholarship is available to undergraduates attending school in Texas and working on an accounting program. Students must be nominated by the chair of their school's accounting department to receive this award.
Quinten Womack was selected for a local chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The accounting faculty chose Quinten based on his GPA and extracurricular activities, such as being chosen by Governor Perry to serve as student regent for The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents and being an accounting tutor. He was the College of Business Administration Senator and chair of the SGA academic and student affairs committee. Womack also was president of the Honors College Student Council. Rene Ramirez was also selected for a local chapter Texas Society of CPA's scholarship in the amount of $500. The accounting faculty chose Rene based on his extracurricular activities, such as being President of Delta Sigma Pi, being involved in the CBA Accounting Society and volunteering at the VITA program, including being a site coordinator this year. Congratulations to Quinten and Rene!

|
CBA finance professor Dr. Thomas Krueger was co-recipient of the "Best-in-Track" Award across the research presentations focusing on the Financial Services industry at the 2014 Academy of Finance meetings. The meeting was held in Chicago, Illinois, drawing reports from over 100 finance researchers. In the Financial Services track there were 32 presentations. Awards winners are selected on an anonymous basis by members of the program committee. This is the first time a "Best-in-Track" award has been awarded in the financial services area, perhaps because of the high number of presentations in this area. Read more.
