Dr. Jack Shorter appointed to Chair in the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems

The College of Business Administration welcomes Dr. Jack Shorter to the position of chair in the Department of Management, Marketing and Information systems. Dr. Shorter has been with the university for 21 years and has served in leadership roles during that time as Interim Chair in the Department of Information Systems, Computer Lab Coordinator and Computer Technician. Dr. Shorter received his B.S., M.S. and Ed.D. degrees from Oklahoma State University. In 2011, he was the recipient of the College of Business Administration Distinguished Teaching Award, "The Students' Choice," and he was also honored in the College of Business Administration Research Spotlight during the spring of 2012.  Dr. Shorter has published 61 articles in numerous journals, computer industry news magazines and professional computer organization publications. He belongs to the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS), Association of Information Technology Professionals (Formally DPMA) and Delta Pi Epsilon Honorary Business Education Fraternity.
Texas A&M-Kingsville Schedules Winter Commencement Dec. 13

More than 580 graduates are ready to cross the stage to receive their degrees during two commencement ceremonies to be held at the Steinke Physical Education Center at Texas A&M University-Kingsville Friday, Dec. 13.  At the 1 p.m. ceremony, graduates from the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Human Sciences, the College of Business Administration and the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering will receive their degrees.   Read more.
The Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award for Fall 2013 Goes to Erin Wise
Erin Wise, Information Systems major from Palacios, Texas, has been selected as the recipient of the Fall 2013 Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award from the College of Business Administration. This award is sponsored by the Student Government Association. Students nominated for this award must be graduating in the semester in which he/she is nominated, must have accumulated no less than 60 credit hours at A&M-Kingsville, must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA and must be involved in university extracurricular activities. Congratulations to Erin!
Dr. Fisher Chosen to Participate in Colloquium "Advancing Theories of Women and Leadership"
CBA Assistant Professor Dr. Kelly Fisher has been invited to participate in the May 18-20, 2014 colloquium titled "Advancing Theories of Women and Leadership."  This event is designed to catalyze the refinement and/or creation of scholarly theories, generate focused and sustained research agendas and advance the next generation of research related to women's leadership and leadership development for girls and women. Attendees create new knowledge through research, disseminating research findings, and implementing research-based programs, workshops and other leadership development initiatives.
The CBA Takes the First Step toward AACSB Accreditation by Meeting with Consultants
AACSB consultants Dr. Jerry Trapnell and Dr. Randy Box visited the College of Business Administration on Dec. 2-3.  They met with college staff, alumni and friends on Monday and spent Tuesday meeting with faculty committees, the Office of Career Services, College of Business Administration students and advising services. Their report will be forthcoming. Overall, they were very impressed with the progress CBA faculty and staff have made towards the prestigious AACSB accreditation.  The college is right on track to file an eligibility application by June 1, 2014 to be reviewed by the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) in July of the same year.
