Three Distinguished Alumni Are CBA Graduates

Congratulations to the four Javelina Alumni who earned special honors during Javelina Homecoming Saturday.

As part of our week-long celebration, we honored alumni who have distinguished them- selves through professional and civic accomplishments that have brought special honor to our Javelina Nation. This year, we honored four alumni during our annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon presented by IBC Bank (from left to right): Rep. Mark Hamilton, Class of '78; Mrs. Gloria Hicks, Class of '70; Mr. Abel Lopez, Class of '72 and Mr. Balous Miller, Class of '66. Lopez, Hamilton and Hicks graduated from the CBA.

Javelina Marketing Club Launches

Javelina Marketing is our newest student organization open to any undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University-Kingsville who is interested in gaining more knowledge and experience about marketing.  It replaced the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association and is now the premiere marketing-oriented student organization on campus.  Faculty advisors for Javelina Marketing are Dr. John Cicala and Dr. Barbara Oates from the College of Business Administration, with additional assistance being provided by Dr. Bruce Lund, an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Sports Business Program in the College of Education and Human Performance. Vasquez Selected for TSCPA Award

CBA lecturer Adria Vasquez been selected as one of the recipients of the Texas Society of CPAs' Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.  The award will be presented her at TSCPA's Accounting Education Conference October 25th - 26th at the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel in Austin.

The statewide TSCPA Outstanding Accounting Educator Awards honor Texans who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and who have distinguished themselves through active service to the accounting profession. Criteria for judging includes instructional innovation, student motivation, the pursuit of learning opportunities for students, involvement in student and professional accounting organizations, and research accomplish- ments and publications. Ms. Vasquez has received numerous awards in her field and we are very proud of her!
