"Fire & Water"
Consider how landscapes receive the sunshine and the rain, converting them into life-giving sustenance. Give thanks for the ways in which fire, the sun, warm water, heated rocks, & summer climes sustain you.

Greetings!
The parched land croaks from thirst. Wildfires continue to rage, charring tens of thousands of acres in California and up the Pacific coast. It is that season here: heat, aridity, smoke-laced air, the ground a dull tan prickly bed of once-green vegetation. Even though our lovely little hamlet in West County enjoys the cooling marine layer most evenings and mornings this time of year, we are sharply aware of the oppressive conditions nearby.
We cry for the landscapes and natural beings who are lost in the fires, as well as for the humans who have been displaced or left homeless. We trust that our tears will restore us to balance in our grief; we hope that renewal will come eventually in the form of winter rains that soothe the burn and entice new growth to risk sprouting up again. We remember that all things in balance, even fire, can crack open what is necessary within us, what is waiting to grow.
We think this month about balance and respite, refreshment, watery reprieve; we realize the summer days are winding down and we write ourselves into thirst-quenching inner landscapes.
How will you care deeply for yourself, keeping cool and hydrated as the summer weeks press on? What will you seek out as refuge and haven, to continue the healing that is the gift of summer sun? The focus for this newsletter is "refreshing yourself."
Blessings,
Jennifer Wilhoit, Writing Mentor, Guide, Mediator

Spotlight: Refreshing in Writing & in Life
|
This is very simple. Do this just once; I bet you'll enjoy it. I hope you'll want to do it again...
Take your beautiful journal or some old dusty paper outside with a few colored pens. In a very comfortable chair, with some cool water or iced tea by your side, sink into this place. Close your eyes. Feel the breeze or sunshine (or raindrops) on your head, your shoulders, your legs and arms. Find a space within you that is a place of refreshment (calm, peace, fretless). In a relaxed way, begin to scrawl onto the page whatever comes to you. Do this for as long as it feels comfortable.
Please consider how TEALarbor stories can support you as you move forward with your writing projects, as you traverse a life transition, or as you face a difficult situation of conflict; I welcome your inquiry via email.
