Gratitude & Compassion

Practice:
"Intentions for a Year"
|
In what ways can you intentionally nurture gratitude this year? How will you extend that as actual compassionate service to others?
Take some time to journal about this over the next several days. Sit with what emerges.
Create an intention for each:
1. I intend to _____ to grow my gratitude in 2015.
2. I intend to _____ as a way to be compassionate with others.

New Year Greetings!
As we move forward into 2015, I am reflecting on how new beginnings offer new perspectives. This is especially germane to me as an unexpected sale of our dwelling imminently affects TEALarbor stories' home offices. At first, I was shocked and stressed. But I quickly realized this as an opportunity: for growth, for acceptance, for a chance to find a place that works a bit better for myself and the business. This new perspective and subsequent realization sharply narrowed my focus so that I could direct my actions accordingly.
Most of all, I crave rural quiet and natural beauty; these are the foundations upon which I and TEALarbor stories thrive. It is certainly the context in which my writing is most free to grow deep roots into the rich soil of soul.
Consequently, the aesthetics (or physics?) of acceptance led to a divine sequence of events that has already provided a new home base for TEALarbor stories' operations. We are excitedly moving through the dust of packing boxes heading toward a beautiful new home office with views of forests and sunsets over valley ridges, a mere half hour drive from the restorative Pacific Ocean.
Be on the lookout for inspired blog posts and the completion of my latest book from the deck of our new offices. If you're currently a client (or a prospective one), you will find it hard to miss the look of unbounded enthusiasm on my face during upcoming sessions.
I hope your own entry into 2015 is a beautiful and peace-filled one.
Blessings,
Jennifer Wilhoit, Writing Mentor & Guide

Spotlight: New Beginnings in Writing
|
Now is a great time to revisit your writing intentions, projects and perspectives for the coming year.
As you do so, begin by considering the following:
*Which writing project will you begin, or begin anew?
* What habits can you embrace for consistency?
* What lifestyle alterations will you make as you place your project at the center of your writing experience?
It is not uncommon to rush headlong into the new year with all the best intentions, only to feel diminished and defeated later when we were not able to keep up with our high expectations.
Here are a few quick tips for keeping your project in balance:
* Determine how much time you can reasonably devote to your writing on a daily or weekly basis.
* Notice what you will give up doing to make space for your writing.
* Imagine your writing intention as a plate and the tasks as bite-sized nourishment for your soul.
Remember, in the beginning of a writing project:
* It is showing up to the page that counts, not how many pages you can count.
* Process trumps outcome.
* Time to write is a huge gift; showing gratitude helps us and our writing.
Please consider how TEALarbor stories can support you as you move forward with your writing projects or as you traverse a life transition; I welcome your inquiry via email.
