Quote for the Month
A life of gratitude accepts the bad with the good. Genuine gratitude is not a zero sum game in which thankfulness increases the more fortunate you are and decreases the more adversity you experience.

Thanksgiving Greetings!
We have arrived again in the season which calls us to be grateful for the bounty of our harvest. But this gratitude is not held in isolation; we are asked to express it in circles of action, with arms open to the world around us.

The "Spotlight" section of this newsletter focuses on how we can express thankfulness via writing and creativity.

Please note the grief and writing workshop coming up in December; details are in the "Workshops & Events" block below. It's a lovely opportunity for comfort and respite during the holiday rush.

Check out the "Holiday Offering" block. Create a one-of-a-kind gift this season, receive a discount for doing so, and feel very good about yourself.

Also, if you want a chance to get a free writing session with TEALarbor stories, please check out the Give!Guide announcement in the "News & Updates" block; November 15th is the donation day for my incentive.

I have so much for which to be grateful and you are on my personal gratitude list. May your heart be full as you move into this dark, luscious season of giving and community.

Blessings,

Jennifer Wilhoit, Writing Mentor & Guide

Spotlight:  Thankfulness in Writing
There are many ways to express thanks - for people, for things, for the conditions of our lives - through writing. Gratitude and appreciation are not denials of the difficulties of living, or inordinate preoccupations with "the cup half full" mentality. A more accurate expression of thankfulness is one that grows as we bear witness to our own or others' challenges. We know that Life is a gift and that times get hard. But we continue to step up to whatever is there. We can learn to greet our lives each day with appreciation and thanks.

The following is a short list of ways that we can practice writing our gratitude, scrawling our thanks, living our appreciation, into the wider world:

Make a gratitude list.

Craft a thank you note.

Write a letter of recommendation.

Compose praiseful poetry or prose.

Write down mantras or prayers of thanksgiving.

Journal about life's blessings - general and specific.

Write stories of challenges overcome.

Send appreciative text messages or emails.

Handwrite letters and greeting cards.

Etch words of gratitude into sand or dirt outside.

Create prayer flags with messages of thanks.

Make a deck of angel cards focused on synonyms for gratitude.

Which of these would be easy for you to undertake this month? Which might offer you a new, exciting challenge? I encourage you to choose one to engage with during this month. Invite your family and friends to join you. There's always a reason to offer thanks for our lives; gratitude is unconditional.
