FROM FATHER RASK
We thank, recognize, and celebrate the 1000 households who have contributed to the St. Odilia Capital Campaign to date. As of June 1, 2016 we have received over $4.5 million in pledges. Pledges are still welcomed and encouraged and needed....
Coming up on the weekend of June 25 and 26, we thank Dan Perry for his many years of music ministry at St. Odilia. Special receptions have been planned after the Masses. All of you are invited to honor Dan as he retires from his full-time ministry.
Raphael Akurugu,a seminarian from the Saint Paul Seminary, is spending time at our parish this summer and has written an interesting article about himself for this Connection. I hope you have the opportunity to meet and talk with Raphael during his summer stay with us.
Our St. Odilia Faith Formation ministry has planned a number of engaging summer programs for our youth. Be sure to check them out in this Connection. Online registration makes it extra convenient for parents.
On May 31, thirty-five eighth graders graduated from St. Odilia school. Principal Brian Ragatz commented that "We are confident that these young men and women will go forth and continue their journey with the moral, spiritual, and academic foundation that will serve them well in their future. We wish each of these young men and women the best as they head off to high school, and we hope they will come back and visit so we know how they are doing in the coming years."
Blessings to all as you enjoy these beautiful summer days of June and celebrate Father's Day on June 19.

The Parish Leadership Council (PLC) is the guiding body of St. Odilia Catholic Community. Overall authority for the parish mission and parish wide policies resides in the Parish Leadership Council, as delegated by the Pastor.
The role of the PLC is to facilitate the periodic (3-5 years) formation/revision of The Parish Mission Statement of St. Odilia, to nourish a parish environment that will encourage achievement of the mission, to communicate the mission to the community regarding its achievement and status, and to conduct regular evaluations of its progress.
During the last year the PLC has worked to keep all of our ministry areas strong while at the same time executing a thorough and successful capital campaign. Much additional coordination and decision making was involved in this once-a-generation capital campaign - our first capital campaign since 1992.
PLC Council Membership: The PLC is composed of the Pastor, three at-large members of the parish, a representative from each of the Ministry Area Councils, two parish trustees that are selected by the Pastor, and parish administrative staff for a total of seventeen members. PLC Members for Fiscal 2017 (that starts July 1, 2016): Fr, Rask, Fr, Stiles, Jeanne Schaaf (staff), Greg Gerlach (Trustee), Katie Boyle (Trustee), Maureen Rehfuss (PLC At-Large-Rep), Russ Bertsch (PLC At-Large Rep), Mike Bettendorf (Worship/Community Life), Francisco DeMeireles (Pastoral Care), Rebecca Embacher (School), Jim Hermes (Facilities), Lynn Hermes (Faith Formation), Vicki Simonsen (Stewardship), Catherine Steffen (Finance), Jerry Tiller (Social Justice) and the Hispanic Leadership Council Representative (to be determined).
If you feel called to discern a role in parish leadership, we invite you to consider joining the PLC as an At-Large member for a three year term. You can submit your nomination for the role of PLC At-Large Rep HERE.

The Silent Auction has been successful thanks to the donations given by so many of you. Please keep your donations coming. Donate a single item or put together a theme basket yourself to donate.
Begin Collecting Live Auction Items: Summer is the perfect time to set aside items for this auction. See the complete List for items needed and drop off/pick-up information. Fall Festival Quilt News: This year the Fall Festival quilt is called "Shangri La" and was designed by Sue Harvey and Sandy Boobar of Pine Tree Country Quilts. Despite its origins, this quilt is nowhere near country-style. Our quilt is made in a palette of teal blues and purples, with a little green and some other colors mixed in. A combination of batik and printed fabrics make this quilt unique and the white background fabric gives it a lively appearance. The finished quilt size is 100" X 112". The St. Odilia quilters will begin selling chances for the quilt at the Feast of St. Odilia Ice Cream Social on July 17. You can buy six chances for $5 or $1 apiece. Ticket sales will continue after all weekend Masses beginning two weeks before festival weekend and throughout the festival events. Click HERE to see the quilt.
Mark your calendar for Fall Festival on Sept. 10 & 11, 2016
We can use your gifts! Contact Trish at pbrokman@comcast.net or 612-743-9572 to find out how you can be involved!!!

THANK YOU FROM SHARING KORNER FOOD SHELF May 31, 2016 Dear Father Rask, We are writing this letter to tell you that after 26 years of serving the Frogtown community in St.Paul, Sharing Korner Food Shelf will be closing its doors on June 15. Over the years, with your help, we have served many hundreds of thousands of families and individuals in Frogtown. With the changing dynamics of operating a food shelf, increased regulations and a decline in funding and client numbers, it has become untenable for us to keep our doors open. Ecclesiastes says there is a season for everything, and we feel that we have run the race that was set before us. There are no words to express the depths of gratitude we have to St. Odilia. Sharing Korner was actually birthed out of the compassion of those at St. Odilia 26 years ago to provide assistance to those in poverty. You have exceeded that compassion not just with your monetary support, but also through those who have served on our Board of Directors, and to all the faithful volunteers and the many thousands of hours of service they have given. Truly you can be proud of your outstanding commitment to those in need. We are extremely proud of the legacy we leave. Please know that we could not have accomplished this legacy without St. Odilia's support. We know that God will continue to honor and bless your faith community. Sincerely, Sharing Korner Board of Directors A note from Jim Saumweber, Coordinator of Pastoral Care: Thank you to the many parishioners who have donated food and funds, collected food and brought it to Sharing Korner, and served in different roles at the food shelf over the years. We want to continue the legacy left by Sharing Korner, so please continue to bring in your food donations. We are currently working out the specifics of distributing these donations after Sharing Korner closed on June 15. Watch the bulletin and Connection for more updates.. |

ST. ODILIA CHARITABLE OUTREACH
"There is much that we can do to benefit the poor, the needy and those who suffer, and to favor justice, promote reconciliation and build peace." (Pope Francis)
May Green Envelopes:
During the month of May, we were asked to support local community needs. Included in these needs are support for area food shelves. In addition, St. Odilia also continues to contribute to Caring and Sharing Hands, Catholic Charities Community Resource Center, and Dorothy Day Center. There are continuing needs in these and other local community outreach organizations that the people of St. Odilia are always ready to help meet when asked. Through your generosity, the Catholic Community of St. Odilia contributed a total of $1,810.00 to support local needs in our community.
June Green Envelopes:
In June, the green envelope is for "Peter's Pence". The Peter's Pence collection unites us in solidarity with the Holy Father and his works of charity to those in need. The quote (above) from Pope Francis addresses our responsibility before the world. The collection to the Peter's Pence allows the Holy Father to support victims of war, natural disasters and others in need of assistance. Join Pope Francis and be a witness of charity in the world. Be generous as the Lord is generous to us. Thank you.
Did you misplace your green envelope?
You can still contribute to Peter's Pence. Just make the check out to St. Odilia with Peter's Pence in the memo line.
Contributions remain below our budget goal for our fiscal year. If you'd like to make an additional one-time gift to our Sunday Debt and Facility Maintenance funds, you can click HERE.
