New Initiative to Enhance Neighbor Safety

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has partnered with LoJack on a new public safety initiative designed to help locate missing neighbors with learning or memory impairments.

When a person registers with SafetyNet by LoJack, he or she receives a bracelet with a unique digital identification. If that person is reported missing, Fort Lauderdale Police Officers respond to the last known location of the missing person and use digital receivers to tune into the frequency of that person's bracelet and thoroughly search the surrounding area.  Click here to read more.

Reminder: Water Chlorination

The City of Fort Lauderdale will temporarily return to using free chlorine in its drinking water system from Tuesday, Feb. 24 until Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Free chlorination is a common practice for water systems using combined chlorine disinfection.  The chlorination period is anticipated to be transparent to water customers; however, some may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water.  For more information, visit the City website or contact the 24-hour Customer Service Center at 954-828-8000.
