Fort Lauderdale is proud to introduce Lauderserv, an exciting new way to access customer service from your computer or mobile device.
Neighbors can use Lauderserv to submit customer service requests or report a variety of concerns, including: streetlight outages, overgrown landscaping, deceased animals, and graffiti. Use the map tool to identify the exact location of the concern, and upload photos with your request. Neighbors can also track the status of existing requests online. Access Lauderserv on the City website, or by downloading the smartphone app from the Itunes App Store or Google Play.
The app also links to current beach conditions and the City's social media accounts, so neighbors can stay informed on the latest news and events happening in our community. Additional features will be added to the app in the coming months.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working to transform our community into a fully connected, pedestrian-friendly, multimodal City that improves pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorist safety through a Complete Streets approach, which is one of the top priorities outlined in the citywide Vision Plan.
As part of the City's Downtown Walkability and Complete Streets initiatives, the City of Fort Lauderdale introduced the Connecting the Blocks Painted Intersection Program, which is the first of its kind in the City and Broward County, to help create a safer balance between cars and people.
Painted intersections, which are murals painted on the street, create a sense of place through designs that reflect the character of an area and add to the social and economic fabric of a community. They also offer traffic-calming through colorful, visual public art displays and provide safer experiences for pedestrians through well-marked crosswalks incorporated into the art design. Painted intersections also provide motorists with a tangible, visible reminder that they are traveling in a public thoroughfare and should be on the lookout for pedestrians, joggers, and bicyclists in the area.
The City kicked off the painted intersection project on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at E. Las Olas Boulevard and S.E. 1st Avenue.
We invite you to watch as we paint the second intersection, located at E. Las Olas Boulevard and S.E. 2nd Street, on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click here to view the event flyer.

Two Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue firefighter/paramedics recently received special recognition from the Broward County Fire Chiefs Association.
Driver Engineer David Bassion was named "Paramedic of the Year" for his life-saving actions after witnessing a boat accident while vacationing in a remote part of the Bahamas. Bassion rushed to the scene and treated the critically injured patients until help arrived. He also stayed with the patients during the transport to the hospital.
Lieutenant James Carroll was named "Public Educator of the Year" for his Baby Sleep Safe public education program. This program trains Fire Department personnel across the country to learn how to spot dangerous environments for babies and teaches them how to educate families about removing hazards and providing a safe environment for children in their homes. Lt. Carroll started this program with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and has grown it into a national initiative. Since the inception of the program, the infant death rate from accidents in the home has dropped significantly. Click here for more information on the program.

The Broward Water Partnership, which includes Fort Lauderdale, has made a 20-year goal to save 30 million gallons of water a day. The program includes many different initiatives, including one that offers $100 rebates for replacing old high flow toilets with new, high-efficiency WaterSense® models.
If your property was built before 1994, you likely have older model toilets that use more than 3.5 gallons of water per flush. Replace those toilets with new, water-saving models and you could receive a rebate of up to $100 for each new toilet.
Numerous homeowners, businesses, and associations throughout Broward County are benefiting from this program. A condo association in Sunrise replaced all 138 of their older toilets with newer, water-efficient models, and the association has reported saving approximately $2,000 PER MONTH on their water bill.
This program is open to single-family homes, multifamily homes and businesses. Click here for information on the Conservation Pays program.

Vehicle burglary happens every day. You can help prevent this crime by taking a few easy steps:
- Do not leave any valuables in your car, even for a few minutes. This includes: wallets, purses, bags, GPS devices, cell phones, jewelry, computers, iPods, or iPads.
- Park in a designated parking space where your car will be highly visible. In a parking lot, select a space near the entrance, where there is the most activity and your vehicle car can be seen by others passing by.
- Remove visible items from your car. Victims of vehicle burglary tend to leave their valuable items in plain view, in the front passenger seat or front console area. It only takes a few seconds for someone to break into a car and remove these items. Remember, it only takes a few seconds to place these items in the trunk of your car where they are not visible.
- Lock your doors and roll up your windows anytime you leave your vehicle, even when you are pumping gas, or running into a school or daycare to drop off or pick up children. By practicing these simple steps we can work together to make Fort Lauderdale a safer community.
