JANUARY 2014

Seeking Ideas

As we strive to become "The City You Never Want to Leave," you can help us enhance the overall quality of life by sharing your ideas with us.  Fort Lauderdale is proud to announce a new interactive website where neighbors can make a comment or suggestion about a City program, event or initiative.  You can also give us feedback on City services, vote on ideas you like and interact with your neighbors. For a limited time you can participate in specific forums on sustainability and economic development. Visit the new site and share your ideas today webuildcommunityftl.com

Climate Adaptation

The City of Fort Lauderdale will host a public meeting to discuss long-term sustainability in light of climate change.  Neighbors are encouraged to attend and participate in a dialogue about adaptation strategies to enhance Fort Lauderdale's resiliency to protect the City's future prosperity.  The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, in the 1st floor Commission Chambers of City Hall.  Click here to learn how to watch the meeting from home or submit questions that will be answered during the meeting.

Solid Waste Service

Republic Services' solid waste collection trucks start rolling through Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods on February 1st.  The company is transitioning to a new fleet of quiet, energy-efficient Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks for the collection of residential garbage and yard waste in Fort Lauderdale.  The new CNG trucks are 10 times quieter and have 50% fewer emissions than diesel trucks.

Your collection day schedule stays the same, but your collection times may change.  Collection hours are 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  If you have questions, please call the 24-Hour Customer Service Center at (954) 828-8000 or click here
