Join the Next Town Hall Meeting


The City will host a series of five public meetings to get input from residents on City services, programs and events.  The next citywide Telephone Town Hall Meeting will be hosted by District II Commissioner Dean J. Trantalis at 7pm on Wednesday, July 10. Learn more about the Telephone Town Hall Meetings and find out how to participate. 

Firefighters Free Person Trapped in Vehicle

 

On May 20th, Fort Lauderdale Firefighters responded to a rolled vehicle on I-95, just north of Sunrise Boulevard.  Using the "Jaws of Life," the occupant of the vehicle was extricated by Fire-Rescue and transported to Broward Health Medical Center. Read more.

Flood Insurance Discount 

 

Fort Lauderdale residents are now eligible for a larger discount on their flood insurance premiums. As a result of voluntarily increasing its activities under FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program, Fort Lauderdale increased its rating to a Class 6 community, which means property owners and renters who renew or purchase flood insurance policies after May 1, 2013 are eligible for a total discount up to 20% off annual flood insurance premiums. Seeking Input on Lighting Restrictions

 

Fort Lauderdale will host two public meetings to review the City's current beach area lighting ordinance. Residents are encouraged to attend to provide input on proposed modifications as recommended in the state's model lighting ordinance for marine turtle protection. Click here for meeting details.

Historic Preservation Award Winners

 

Congratulations to the winners of the 2nd annual Fort Lauderdale Historic Preservation Commendation awards.  Presented by the City's Historic Preservation Board, the awards were created to honor outstanding historic preservation achievements by individuals, students, organizations and businesses. Pursuing Resilient City Award

The City of Fort Lauderdale's 2012 Water Quality Report is now available onlineThe annual report contains important information and details about the City's water source, treatment process, test results, and overall drinking water quality.  The City of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce that it meets all federal and state primary drinking water standards.
Rains, Drains and Pollutants

South Florida's rainy season is a time when the need for stormwater pollution prevention is more important than ever.  The excessive storm water generated by heavy downpours flows from driveways, streets and sidewalks, picks up pollutants and carries them to the nearest storm drain.  While water flowing into a storm drain is very visible, the pollutants are not. FPL Power Plant Demo
