The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District partnered with the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas to help impact the lives of many young women by providing them with leadership training. 

 

HCISD and the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas hosted the first Women Leaders of Tomorrow Conference at Memorial Middle School on May 11.

Lady Hawk softball advances to fourth round of playoffs

 

For the first time since 2010, the Lady Hawk softball team is marking their return to sweet 16 status.

 

The team pulled together to score a regional quarterfinal playoff victory against Laredo LBJ at Texas A&M Kingsville's Herbert Field on May 10. The final tally for the Lady Hawks was 12 -2.

Bonham club saves one tree at a time during campus Recycle Day
 
 

Second grade students involved in the newest organization at Bonham Elementary School are saving the planet one tree at a time.

 

The Bonham Lil Green Healers club is a campus organization dedicated to helping their campus become more environmentally friendly by spreading the word about conservation.

Students Maricruz Espinoza, Sarah Cano, Erica Gonzalez, and Jonathan Ruiz are finalists in the Latino History Essay Contest. Fellow student Adam Rudd is also a Barbara Jordan Essay Contest

The Student Council at Treasure Hills Elementary is showing their support to the students at Sandy Hook Elementary in an unexpected way.

For their last community service project, the council has decided to do "The Duck Project" on May 10.

Leadership organizations share experiences with district officials

To celebrate leadership, District Administrators and School Board Members along with this year's Student Advisory Board and Team One members came together to share their experiences on May 14.

 

The two organizations, which are aimed at building and developing future leaders, were honored at a dinner prior to the regular Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday.

The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District and the Harlingen Public Library joined forces to promote literacy on May 11.

 

HCISD and the HPL hosted the second annual Harlingen Book Festival for the community's students and parents at the city's library.
