Person of the Week: Hernandez creates pathways for academic transitions at HCISD
  

  

Diana Hernandez wakes up every day with a mission to help students succeed, and goes to bed knowing that she has been able to do so in some way.

 

Hernandez is the New Generation System (NGS) Data Specialist at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District.

High school students earn prestigious awards for skills

  

Students at Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South earned top prizes at the SKILLS USA State Competition held in Corpus Christi early this month.

High school track races past the competition at Area meet
  
 

Track athletes from Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South continued to beat the clock at the Region IV- 5A Area Meet at Weslaco's Bobby Lackey Stadium on April 20.

 

With many of the HHS and HHSS athletes qualifying for the Conference 5A Region IV Regional Spring Meet to be held at Heroes Stadium at University of Texas in San Antonio on April 27.

HHSS Academics named Region Champion at tournament
  

The Harlingen High School South University Interscholastic League (UIL) Academic Team proved to be a scholastic powerhouse at the Conference 5A Region IV Academics Spring Meet held at the University of Texas at San Antonio on April 20.

 

 HHSS was named the sweepstakes winner at the UIL Region IV 5A Academic Championship. It is the  highest award a team could receive at the competition.

Choirs and bands from across the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District hit the right notes at the 2013 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight-reading Contest.

Middle and high school music

 

 programs showed off their abilities to sight-read music at a moments notice throughout the competition, and performed for selected numbers for judges.

Students honored for creativity during state PTA competition
 

 

Students at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District were honored for their creativity during the 2013 State PTA Reflections Competition.

 

Liam Thomas Giloon from Stuart Place Elementary earned the overall award of excellence at the Intermediate Level for his literature entry titled "Unforgettable.

Students at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District were awarded for their creativity in spreading the word about fire safety in April.

 

Four students were selected as the top winners in the District Fire Prevention Poster Contest for their artistic submissions.

Students at Rodriguez Elementary School were in for a global experience on April 18.

 

Emma LePore's fourth grade class was visited by Geomi George, a fourth grade facilitator at Trivandrum International School in India, as part of a professionals exchange program.
