In the middle schools at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, the mentality of "success in groups" can be seen as you walk the halls or enter any classroom.


"I like the feeling that you belong somewhere in school, and that you are part of something," said Marissa Flores, seventh grade student at Vernon.  "It inspires us to work harder and get better grades."

HHSS tennis teams make program history at region tournament 

The Harlingen High School South Tennis team aced their way past the competition and made campus history at the two-day Region IV-5A tennis tournament at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio on April 17.


Both the girls' doubles team and boys' doubles team advanced to the University Interscholastic League Tennis State Tournament at Penick-Allison Tennis Center at the University of Texas at Austin on April 29 and 30.

HHS girls basketball players selected for All Star teams



Three players along with their coach from the Harlingen High School Girls Basketball Team are being recognized for their accomplishments on the court.


Alexis Martinez, Itzayana Sanchez, and Iris Cerrillo were selected to participate in the Annual All Star Game for the Rio Grande Valley Basketball Coaches Association.

High school track teams advance to area meet

Both Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South track athletes were finishing in record time during the District 32- 5A Track Meet on April 13 at Sam's Memorial Stadium in Brownsville.


HHS and HHSS had many of athletes qualify for the Region IV- 5A Area Meet at Weslaco's Bobby Lackey Stadium taking place on April 20.

ECHS community service group recognized for their efforts

The Early College High School ACE Community Service Group , The Action Team, is working alongside Major League baseball players to give back to their communities and help those in need.


ECHS was recently recognized in the Wall Street Journal for their involvement in the Volunteers of America and Major League Baseball (MLB) Players Trust in April.

Treasure Hills Chess checkmates the competition during first year


The Treasure Hills Chess team has made their mark in the Rio Grande Valley during their first year of starting the program.


The team earned top marks at the Russell Elementary School Happy Trails Chess Tournament in Brownsville on April 15.

The Harlingen High School South Jazz Band soared above the competition at the McAllen Jazz Festival on April 13.
