The high school engineering teams at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District are getting help from the United Launch Alliance (ULA) to continue their successful competition season this school year.

 

ULA awarded a grant of $5,000 to split amongst the HHS, HHSS and Early College High School engineering clubs. To thank ULA for their support, each club participated in a rocket launch.

HCISD restores name of former campus
  

            

To recognize past educational facilities, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District is taking steps to ensure part the city's history is restored.

 

The district recently approved efforts to restore and commemorate the Booker T. Washington School.

Ben Milam welcomes Houston Astros for day of reading
  

             

The sound of cheers and spirited chants filled the air at Ben Milam Elementary as the students geared up for a morning of baseball and stories on Jan. 23.

Stuart Place raises $1,844 for Harlingen Humane Society
  

               

The students at Stuart Place Elementary came together to help "man's best friend" this January.

 

Stuart Place participated in the third annual Give a Dog a Bone fundraiser. They collected a total of $1,844 for the dogs, cats and other furry friends at the Harlingen Humane Society.

HHS Masterminds prepare to test their knowledge
  

              

The Harlingen High School Masterminds team is preparing to test their knowledge at the next round of the televised competition.

 

The team will be facing Saint Joseph's Academy from Brownsville on Jan. 28 in the KRGV Channel 5 News competitions. The competition is an academic quiz for high school students from across the Rio Grande Valley.

Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy pre-registration schedule
  

            

The Dr. Abraham P. Cano Freshman Academy is gearing up for the 2013 - 2014 school year by hosting a series of orientations and opportunities for early registration during the month of February and March.

 

Current eighth grade students and parents of students are invited to attend the series of events.
